Hey guys, I figured while we waited for the action to really heat up we could post some pics of our shed displays or display rooms. I like seeing how others show them off. I'll post mine at some point over the weekend but if you have pics lets see em.

Not exactly on point, I'm assuming that deer shed their crowns at the same time around the country. If that's the case did I simply come up empty today or is it a little early to expect to find sheds already?
They do shed around the same time but it could vary for several months. While some up north drop in December, we don't see ours drop until April sometimes and I'm sure down in Alabama they drop even later since their rut isn't until January/February. Plus it takes a lot of miles to find a piece of a shed sometimes. Keep walking and you'll eventually find one and get hooked like the rest of us.
in nw pa still getting pics of buck wearing both antlers but I have been getting some bucks with bald spots also. just waiting for snow to melt so I can get out there. cabin fever setting in. -30 this morning the frozen over rivers are steaming.
We're finally getting some snow here so hopefully that will help figure out where they are bedding up and traveling just in time for the antlers to start falling
So perhaps it's still early, but I've spent about 5 hours trekking through some woods locally (central Minnesota), seen a considerable amount of sign, beds big prints which I followed for a bit, and the like, but still have yet to lay my hands on anything. I'm new to the shed hunting game so I have no experience to go on. We have had a mild winter thus far, with the exception of the last week and I'm wondering if it's simply too early at this point to even expect success. I have done some research about tactics, following trails between bedding and food, looking through some of the thicker stuff and under the proverbial "low bridges". Any other ideas that could be helpful well make me a happy hunter. Thanks in advance as always everyone.
I seem to do well in heavy feed areas. acorns, apples, and for some reason I find some in the areas that have those strawberry plants that are really wirey and viney. try to stay on the warm side of the hill. field edges are another good spot. basically find where the deer are spending a lot of time. hope some of this helps. in my area I think I walk about 5+ miles for each shed I find. nice just to get out!!
I'm in SW Minnesota. Even though this is only my second year shed hunting, this year is much different than last. We have zero snow all winter so it makes it tough to not only pinpoint trails, feeding and beds, but they also aren't herded up like they normally are. I've got three so far this year but all 3 of them are old sheds. I am however finding them in the same spots as fresh ones would be. South facing slopes, field edges and beds are my main focuses. CRP can be tough but I actually found 2 of mine in it this year. It had been grazed last summer so it made walking and looking much easier than normal. It was probably luck but I found 19 last year. Stick with it and you will find them!
The areas I walk are different than most. I stick to the small woodlots in the cities where the deer have no choice but to herd up due to buildings and roadways nearby. I have found the majority of my sheds in 1 to 5 acre spots in between factories and around churches and stuff. The hunting land I have is all very mountainous so to find a shed is pretty tough with little snow each year but I have found a few in areas where I know they frequent
