Hey guys, Finally got interested enough to go look at some recurve bows. Just want to know if anyone has tried the Bear Super Grizzly? Would it be a good first recurve? And is 50 lbs too much to start with?
Thats kinda of relative I guess. The Super Grizzly is 58" so it is kind of moderate in length. It won't be as forgiving as a bow a bit longer. As far as 50# all depends on what you can pull comfortably.. How strong are ya? lol I have a Bear Grizzly in 50# and find it very comfy to shoot and I am no weight lifter I assure you. I have however been shooting a recurve in some form or another for 20 years. Never as a main bow though, usually just for fun and small game, although I think this year I will try to kill a turkey with one It is a nice shooting bow....
I'll add this.... if you shoot a 50# compound don't assume you can shoot a 50# stick bow.... it isn't the same, I promise. The last thing you want to do is over bow yourself. You won't have fun shooting it.
I shoot a compound at anywhere from 60-70 lbs, so I thought that 50 lb recurve might be ok in that aspect? Let me make myself clear that I know nothing about traditional bows.
A factor concerning a 58" bow fitting you will be your draw length. I would suggest shooting some different recurves before buying one, you will be much happier in the long run.
My draw is 28 inches. I do plan on shooting as many bows as possible, but just can't get over how awesome this bow looks.
