I'm from NW Louisiana and I'm considering a trip to SE Oklahoma to turkey hunt with a friend of mine. I'm looking into the Three Rivers and Honobia areas. There is a good chance I will opt for primitive camping instead of paying to stay somewhere. Can anyone tell me if that is likely to be a worthwhile trip or should I plan for some other area. Thanks for any input.

although I have never hunted turkeys there, there are some special regulations for that area you'll want to be aware of

april 20 - may 6 in SE region (-vs- april 6 - may 6 for the rest of the state)
SE region is 1 tom only

it is a popular turkey hunting area and turkey numbers are down in that region (thus the extra restrictions).

Thanks for the info, I've decided to stick to hunting my local turkeys this year. I'll probably make a trip up there during next deer season though.
