I just put in for the hunts here. I put in for Moose, Deer and Antelope. I have 2 more years waiting period before I can put in for a Anybull tag for elk. It will be just a cow or spike year for elk.
Tag application still doesn't open until next month. I'll be putting in for deer and possibly elk. Let us know how it turns out OC! Good Luck!
Ill be points across the board again this year for various species in AZ, UT, CO, and WY. This coming hunting season will likely be limited to AK Moose or Caribou for a week and a spring 2016 return to Prince Of Wales Island for Black Bear. Going to try and accumulate PTO for the year as I work towards Alaskan Residency for fall 2016.
Points in all the usual places. Drawing for three elk tags and two sheep tags( a man can dream no) These are all long shots but if hit one I can devote the better part of a month to them or as long a the season lasts... KS tag should be a lock, another point in Iowa. NM deer tag also... And if nothing comes in I have two OTC options all lined up.
My draws been so bad the last three years I foresee a another landowner tag for my Elk hunt in 2017, that will be two landowner tags in row for me something I haven't had to do ever. And with moose trip in the books for 2016 already, next years Elk draws are gong to be long shots as well just do to time constraints.s
Ttial153, My son who is in college meet a couple from NY and they wanted to do a pack in on the rifle hunt here. I went along just as a spotter. We had planned on a 3 mile hike in. nothing to bad. After about half a mile I knew they were in trouble. So I told my son we need to change our spot we were headed to. We knew of a camping spot about a mile in. So I hoofed up up to the camp spot dropped my pack went back and took the young lady's pack. Then after getting her pack to camp I went and got his pack. When we got camp set up he came up to me and said when I get your age I hope I'm in half the shape your in. I told him I have done this most my life, but don't stop flattering me The funny thing is that I could be in better shape. I think the elevation and how steep it is took them off gaurd
Shape only goes so far. I always felt the need acclimate to the angles as well, we end up using muscles we never thought we had. I am lucky to be in a place with serious vertical inclines for training.
Thanks!! It wasn't unexpected. It was long shot. I figured if it came in I would take two weeks and head out ...if not I get a point which I planned on buying anyway. One less thing to do in July.
I wish I had a moose tag this year. It's pretty much a once in a lifetime draw here. I saw more "trophy" bull moose this year than I ever have. If I'm still here in WY, and you're in Cheyenne, first round is one me
Oldcarp, what units did you put in for on the bear and pronghorn? I put in for archery pronghorn on the snake Valley unit and for the summer bear season on the Nebo unit. If I should pull either tag... It will be a scramble to figure what the heck I am doing. Lol
My first choice on bear is for the fall Wasatch hunt. I did that mostly so if I see one when I am bowhunting I can take it. My Second choice was the Nebo summer tag. I have a son that lives up in Cache county so I put in for Antelope up there with him and my daughter in law. Christine, good luck on the draws
