Anyone have higher miles on their Ecoboost F-150's yet? What are your thoughts? What kind of gas mileage are you getting? Anyone have mileage while towing 4-5k lbs?
Yep, it's about that time. I'd like to hear what the Ecoboost owners think now that they have been out a while. I'm not sure I want another 5.0.
don't have any experience the ecoboost trucks ...but...rented a Ford Fusion with the 2.0L Ti-VCT GTDI I-4 EcoBoost and drove to TX avg 23 MPG way under the advertised mpg was not impressed..
3.5 years and 65k miles. Starting to have a couple of issues with it, it's out of warranty, plus I'd really like a bit of extra room due to the kid so looking to upgrade to a bigger cab.
I'll be getting an F-150 here once one of our vehicles dies. Got one with 203,000 and one with 104,000. Will have a decision to make if it will be a Eco boost or the regular engine.
I'm starting to question if the Ecoboost is just a markinging scam. I've heard other mileage complaints as well. All anecdotal evidence however.
I like everything about the 5.0 until I just changed the oil and realized it burned 2 quarts of oil in 5k miles. I got online and read a bit and apparently this is pretty common with the 5.0 in both the F-150 and Mustangs. Knowing this I can't say I'd recommend one since it's apparently a pretty common issue.
Holy cats. I want a F-150 in the worst way but hopefully my current rides hold together for awhile yet.
It's not a marketing scam, it's simply a turbo vehicle. If you get into the boost it's going to get pretty bad mileage. If you stay out of the boost you will get great mileage. If you are a fairly aggressive driver you might actually get better mileage with a V8.
Gotcha makes sense. I find it crazy in today's age that ford would build their #1 seller to burn oil like that. It's something they should be able to prevent these days. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
never had a single issue with any full size gm truck in 15 years i've had 4 2001 ext cab, 2007 crew cab, 2010 Z71 and now a 2009 duramax 2500 Z71
That may be true but many people have had oil consumption issues with the 5.3 engine. I have no idea if it is still an issue or not?
I've had mine for 1 1/2 years and have approx. 55K miles on it. I have never reset the trip calculator and have averaged 17.7 MPG over the entire 55k miles and that is a ton of highway miles. Most highway trips seem to average around 18 mpg.
My 2001 6.0L Silverado burns at least a quart of oil every 5K miles. From the very beginning and it still does it with 205K miles on the odometer. At least it didn't get worse. I complained to the dealership about it at first but they assured me that it's normal. Before I had the chevy I drove 70s IH Scouts, they may have leaked a lot of oil but they didn't burn it. How much more does an eco-boost cost?
Yeah - A quart every 5k would be acceptable for me on a truck with 65k. 2 quarts seems excessive. I'm looking for something very lightly used, like under 10k miles. There really isn't a difference in price when looking at trucks that are lightly used like that and most of them that have the other options I want have the Ecoboost anyhow. I'm just looking to see if there are any horror stories out there before I pull the trigger, I know we have a lot of F-150 owners on here.
