Nice set Dawg. I'm here. I am a really crummy shed hunter but I will try to find a few. Snow may make it tough. Snow in the mountains will be here past the end of this contest.
Hey every one! I am checking in. Congrats on the great finds so far! I have been out a couple times so far looking for some early drops, but no luck on sheds. Did find a nice little 6 pt dead head so far.
We also need to vote on a captain. I have done it before but if anyone wants to do it I am up for it. I don't mind doing it if no one else wants to.
BnB checking in. it will be awhile before i start looking. no snow here this winter so the deer are scattered about, not yarded up like usuall. good luck team. Captain Dawg is good with me also.
So I was wondering how many sheds did every one find last year? Also do you feel this year will be different? For example, the weather here in Maryland is very mild this year. Last year we got I think over 2 feet of snow thru winter and it stuck around for many months. This year only a couple dustings and in the 40's during the day, with lots of food around. It has been really hard for me to find the bucks. Last year you could drive around and see bachelor groups near the road, this year nothing! I found a little over 20 sheds last year and my goal is to break that. My second goal is find a shed 60" or bigger, I found 3 last year in the 50" range. Just cant break that 60" mark!
I am in Central IL and we have had a mild winter too. The deer are scattered all over instead of herding up like usual. I hope to find some nice ones. I have a buck that I found his shed last year that is my profile picture but not sure if he was killed or not. The hunter that hunts the property next to this property is a grouch so not sure if he killed it or not. I would like to get my second one over 80 but I know that is stretching it a ton. I have one over 60 in the match set that I posted above. I found only 19 last year but the year before was one of my best years in a long time with finding 43. I would like to top at least 25 this year.
I am going to try to go for walk in morning even though I probably should not since I have been home for three days sick. BUT I feel good not coughing that much and will be good for me to have fresh air!
