I recently acquired a lease in Southern Ohio. Here are some of the pics from my first fall hunting there. Very excited for 2015!
Ross County, I actually joined the lease in October but already had some other hunting plans so I wasn't able to get down to it until thanksgiving. It was all new turf to me so i struggled at first to locate deer in the new terrain. Southern Michigan farm country is a lot different than Southern Ohio hill country. I was able to get on a couple decent bucks but was never able to seal the deal on a mature animal. Looking forward to next year after being able to do some scouting on the property!
Yes, the hills are a big learning curve compared to any land in Michigan. Next couple months when you are down there shed hunting is the best time to find those extra trails and learn more about how they move through the property. Look to the South facing slopes for sheds just over the hill tops.
Thanks for the advice! Yeah it's all new to me but I'm excited for the challenge and the opportunity to hunt mature bucks.
