Not sure which part of the forum this would belong but I have been getting inconsistent groups and was wondering if there is anything in my form wrong.. I will attach a video
It looks like you have to bring the string so far back to get the peep to your eye that you have a serious bend in your arm. The arrow is also way behind your head. Try pushing your arm forward and get you anchor farther forward. Also get your peep lowered so it matches your eye height with the changed anchor. Don't grab the bow at the shot and take more time to aim and pull through the shot. Seems like you're punching the trigger but can't tell from this side. You also shouldn't have to lower your head to get to your peep. It should be at the correct height so it comes perfect to your eye. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Kind of what I was thinking, looks like the draw length is a little too short with having to bend the arm like that. A little bend is ok, but it looked to be a bit much.
I think his draw length is pretty close but he anchors so far back he needs to bend his arm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Check out Alistair Whittingham performance archery on youtube. He has good info on posture, front end and anchors. He has a whole series and he is an actual coach so no bs here.
Thanks! I didn't really notice my arm being so bent until I looked at the video. I got my peep moved up a little to my new anchor point and I'm going to try it out later!
Forget the peep for now. Probably be best to just take it out until you get the form worked out. Get close to a target and just concentrate on form and shot execution and once you start to feel the consistency in the form, you can add it back.
Might be a good thought... I could be wrong, but it seems like the draw might be too short. Your arm seems to be bent pretty hard David. I'm not sure that move the peep could make up for all of this. I'm curious to see what you find...
Last night when I recorded this I was shooting at 20 and getting good 2 inch groups but then I would move back to 40 and they would be kind of inconsistent. Like 8 inch groups. I am going to go shoot here in a little bit and ill post on here how it goes.
How does this look compared to the shooting yesterday? If it would help to put a video on too I could do that and see if I am punching the release but I don't think I am.
Draw doesn't look short as you can see now that he brings his anchor forward. Try an shoot at a shoulder level target so we can better see your form. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pretty much what other have said but if your groups are decent at 20 then fall apart at 40 check for contact. Spray your arrow with foot powder and the shoot it. Your form does need some work (whose doesn't really?) but from what you describe you might also have some contact issues too. Good luck.
I shoot bullets through paper and have put powder on and tried that cause I thought I might have contact. I did have shelf slap but got rid of that a couple weeks ago.
Ok what arrow are you shooting and how long? Also is there any pattern to the group gaps or are they all over the place? Are your arrows numbered? Also can you post a video from the other side. Want to see how you anchor and what you are doing at the trigger. Thanks.
I will tomorrow. I wish I still lived at my parents and could shoot in the barn whenever I want but at college I have to go into work to do it.. but here is the group I shot from 30 yards with the updated form.
It definitely looks better this time. But try and work on your grip. Here is how I grip my bow with my grip resting on the meaty part of my thumb. Relaxed head and grip outside the lifeline of my palm. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have my arrows numbered and they are 400 spine easton axis with 100 grain tip cut to the end of my shelf. I can't really remember a pattern to the misses.. Maybe high right
With the updated video I think you should shorten you draw length a little bit. Anchor is still a little far back and you're leaning back slightly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
