What would your ultimate hunting retreat look like? From acres to food plots to location what would you want to have?

Ive always thought a golf course would be sweet to buy. All the fairways would be irrigated food plots, usually mature oaks and water. Usually a lot of brush and elevation change. Good access throughout.

1 acre surrounded by 1000 acres of well managed property :)

    Or the 1000 acres....

It's all relative, and situational. Tough to describe perfect setting but I'd be happy with:

60 total acres (10 acres thick swamp/bedding, 10 acres of thermal evergreen style bedding, 10 acres of hinge cut/switchgrass style bedding....remainder in micro and destination plots, thick transitions and oak flats.

A winding creek just outside of the bedding areas would be nice too.

A nice chunk of land next to or surrounded by huge wildlife preserve. And neighbors that manage their bucks and don't kill everything that walks.

Four full sections and have the intersecting roads officially closed and gated. 80% agriculture, 10% brushy creek bottoms and 10% old coal dump ground. Preferably with the coal dumps bordering at least two sides if not all four.

I'd prefer to engineer most of the bedding areas and cover which I'd deduct another 5-10% for those.

20 acres with ponds, some thick lowland brush, elevation change with upland oak savanna no hunters within 2 miles and no crop fields and a large adjacent refuge with several feeders. Throw in a couple kill plots and you are golden.

Id say if it was just for me id say a 10 acre woods with a acre pond on it and a nice 2 acre food plot in it. And would like it to be within 20 minutes of my home lol.

I have 15 acres with about 2 acres in food plots and a small pond on one end and water tank on the other. Surrounded by several larger well managed parcels and a sub division it works for me. It is also 17 minutes from my home. But like everything else all good things come to an end eventually. As the sub division grows I am sure I will see more people and fewer deer.

300 acres in cloverdale MN or 300 acres In Iowa with 150 oak woods and a creek with 10 acres of food plots. 30 acres of nasty thick stuff. And the rest fields with little to no pressure

I could get really specific, but my short answer is that as much as I ideally want a lot of land I can manage for big bucks I'm just as concerned about the right piece of land with the right neighbors who have the same goals.
