Mckaax, awesome. Doesnt get much better than that....real late in the season and a great buck to boot. Very cool man. Give us the story on the hunt.
About two month ago I hunted a new spot I had never hunted before. On the first evening sit in that tree I had this buck come in at 30 yards and I decided to let him walk. As the season passed and time was running out I was regrtting my decisions. On sat me and my dad decided to head back to this location. After getting my dad in his tree I headed back to my tree. I decided to go a littler further up on the ridge as it was very calm that morning and I figured they would be running ridges with the late rut in full. I got in the stand right as the sky started to turn blue. 8:00 I hear him behind me as I turn around I see he's headed right for me. At about 15 yards from me he head was behind a tree so I decided to draw. At about 10 yards he stopped turn to his left very slightly and lthen looked right at me. It was now or never. He was quartered to me pretty bad but I felt confident. I pulled the trigger and at the time I thought I seen blood pouring from the entrance wound. I told dad over the radio what had happened and that I was going to go back to the truck and let him finish his hunt. Back at the truck I called my two best buds and they were in the way. At around 11 we hit the woods. After following the blood trail my 3 yr old could follow for about 125 yards there he lay. At this time I realized that wasn't blood I seen earlier. It was the wound. The rage must have opened sideways and cut his hide about 10 inches before it completely intered his chest cavity. The drag out was hell. This was a nasty ravine and took everything I had just to get job to payment I could get a cart too. I'm still sore as can be. He weighed around 185 dressed. Thank god for friends and family. It all happened quick. I'd say 2 minutes from the time I heard the leaves behind me from the time I shot. This hunt was one I'll never forget and glad I could spend it with my dad
