[IMG] I posted these pics in the trail cam section but noticed this great bucks front right leg is injured. Man I hate seeing this, anyone else had any experience with one of their bucks getting this type of injury and how it affected their rack the next year. I hope he makes it through the winter. I still have a little time left to get him with a bow. thanks Scoot

Probably a sprained knee from fighting, I would imagine he'll be fine.

it does look like his knee is swollen? Doesn't look a problem in the last pic, looks like he's got weight on it?

Looks like uncle ohm is right. I think he does have weight in it in the last pick. Probably just twisted it or hit it fighting. Running across a field and stepped in a hole. Any number of things. If we are right about the last pic he'll be fine

It does look swollen but another possibility is the ruffled hair on the back left side in the last pic. Is it possible he was shot? Looks high enough to be a single lung? Had a neighbor shoot a buck that was single lunged. When he field dressed it one lung was obviously infected and damaged. Much smaller than the other. So while its improbable it's possible.

The buck was walking around fine and since the other lung was small and deformed he only got the healthy one. And the buck still took 4 steps and crashed. So he was doing a lot worse than it seemed.

Curious, do you have earlier pictures of this buck?

Very well could be an injury he has had for a year or more. That last picture definitely shows him putting weight on it, hard to tell with a still image whether every stride was such, but there's that possibility that it's not a recent injury.

Only two choices, hunt and kill him or hope for future pics of him. Should be easy to pick out in the future

I believe they say rear leg injury affects opposite side antler, front leg injury affects same side antler. That said, I think the others are right on and it's not a serious injury. Time will tell though.
