I did not see anyone else post this so here it is.... Deer hunter?s 8-point trophy wasn?t a buck | The Wichita Eagle I have never even heard of a doe with antlers before. Guess anything can happen in nature.
Happens once in a very rare while... This one was shot in Maine this year... 244lbs on the hoof and around 185 dressed. Antler growth of 8-point Sebec doe extremely rare, biologist says ? Outdoors ? Bangor Daily News ? BDN Maine
My dad shot one a few years back. Six point in velvet. The euro mount is on our wall. Pretty cool to look at.
Saw that earlier this week. I have seen plenty of does that grow bone but not to many of them like that. That doe scores a lot better then a number of bucks entered. :p
I read where they keep the velvet if the male parts are on the inside or the out.. I cant remember but the other way they lose the velvet. I also read its something like 1 in 1,000 that are that way.
I've seen a few antlered doe's here in Maine come into my fathers taxidermy shop.. They all have been small spikes for forks still in velvet.. Nothing like the big one shot earlier this season up here!
