Starting this as I am getting pumped to get on the ice!! A good 8-10 inches on all area lakes. Just got a new 13 ice fishing medium light rod/reel combo... Can't wait to try it out! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Haven't gotten out yet either, but from I hear walleye bite is pretty hot right now around here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I went out for Walleyes last weekend and had no luck. I won't be able to go again until next weekend.
Haven't gotten out yet this year. Plan is to take the permanent north this coming weekend if warm temps hold off. Went to the ice expo this weekend in St. Paul which is always fun.
Still waiting for things to ice over here in SE Michigan. Last year was a promising year for some....not me. Looking to redeem myself this year. Do any of you use cameras, vexilars, or any other electronics? I never have but have been doing some research on different options and it seems like a vexilar is the way to go if you have a lot of ice time and are looking to put fish on the table.
Won't be on the ice until late January im guessing. Hoping to catch something other than Crappie this winter.
Vexilar is the ultimate tool! My buddy uses one for panfish and he says its a must, Drill 30 or so holes and jump around.
That is what I have read as well. I haven't fished multiple holes like that before. Any advice on how far apart to drill?
Id say 30-40' In reality just far enough apart to hit different shelfs or beds where you are fishing. We have had three guys in one shanty with holes under 12" away and still been successful.
I'm getting excited for this year. Didn't do worth a darn last year. This year I'm hoping is better...just need ice.
If anyone in Minnesota needs a fishing buddy... I'm located in central Minnesota . Don't have many buddies who fish! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've never been! My parents used to live on Grand Lake in Cold Spring... I was playing hockey with My brother and we were out a ways... I wasn't looking and went into and unmarked spear hole to my chest. To this day Ive hated them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Boo!! Seriously, having a flasher greatly makes ice fishing much more fun. Just for the sheer entertainment of watching fish react to your bait. Ice fishing can get boring at times Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We are on the verge of having okay ice. Just had 3 young lads get rescued off of lake Winnebago yesterday when a crack opened up and they couldn't get back off. We had good ice started but just to much rain and warmer weather broke it up. Now its trying to reform with lots of ice shoves. Still cant wait to get out and catch some walleyes. Beefie
