Okay...I may be young, but I'm new(er) to the sport, too. What is a trail timer?

I suspect it is a little device that detected motion in front of it and recorded it somehow... i think it actually had a string across a trail that got broken and the device recorded when it happened...

    can someone help us out?

Almost looks like it just records how many times something goes past it without recording anything but a number.

you found a deer run....set it up on a tree, run the string across the trail so when a suspected deer walks through it, it marked the time it came through. i remember my dad had one.
