We are coming up on firearms season in many states now, and I just got to thinking about how bowhunters feel about gun season. Do you put your bow away and grab your gun, do you keep hunting with your bow, or do you hang it up and wait until the orange arm goes back into hibernation?

I hunt right through the six week gun season with my bow.

Can't bow hunt most of IL during the main 2 firearm seasons. 3 days for next weekend and then 4 days for the second season the second weekend after Thanksgiving.

I'll be taking out a 44 mag revolver. Something different and keeps me in the woods. I'd still go out with the shotgun though, it's about the meat when it all comes down to it. The bow just gives me more time and let's me be a little more selective.

I have some spots I couldn't safely hunt with a gun, so I use my bow. If I can safely and legally I will use my gun.

It's a nice change of pace, but I would be tempted to carry my bow if it were legal.

I cut my teeth on gun hunting, and even though I don't love it like I love bowhunting, it is still a special time of year. It really is hard to beat the excitement of deer camp and sharing the week with friends and family.

In years past, if I haven't tagged out before rifle, I picked up the rifle. And enjoyed it. This year, if I didn't tag out, I was planning to give the bow a shot this time. At least on the opener. Partially because the stand I was planning to hunt in doesn't yield much more than a 30yd shot. Ironically it was also the stand I ended up taking my buck out of this year :D

I grab the rifle! I love the tradition of family getting together at deer camp.

I'll probably get out once or twice with a gun, but I bow hunt through out most of the season also

I hunt a county that is closed to gun season so I'll continue to bow hunt while the orange army decimates the deer at my lease. :tu:

I am strictly a bowhunter. I put the rifle down several years back. Something about getting them up close is addictive to me! I bowhunt ALL season long. Only bowhunters can hunt on Sundays here in NC. You can only do so on Private Land. So I can hunt 7 days a week here since I only hunt Private Land. You get a whole month here in NC before any gun hunting is allowed. I never have to worry about the Orange Army unless someone is trespassing.

In years past, I picked up the rifle, but this is my first year with only a bow in hand all season

100% bow hunter. Our 9 day gun season ends on Sunday and then opens again around Thanksgiving for 20 or so days. We can bow hunt through it all here in Minnesota.

I pick up the rifle for Wisconsin 9 day gun season and then some times take the smoke pole out if I can't get it done with the rifle.
