Just wanted to shout out to all of you at bowhunt or die. I started bow hunting 4 years ago with the help of my friend Pete sharing his knowledge to get me going. I have been watching your web show every week for the past 4 years now. Hands down the best hunting show out there!! You guys hold back nothing, showing the good the bad and the ugly (as you have named one episode LOL). I have learnt a tremendous amount of stuff from watching your shows and reading through the forums. Well on OCT 2nd i was in my stand a good hour before sunrise. once the sun rose a doe group came in with 3 decent size does. i decided to get some meat for my freezer, had a 15 yard quartering to me shot that i had placed a little to far back for my liking. knowing that it was not the ideal shot placement. i decided to stay in my stand for a few hours before walking the blood trail since she had looped around towards my trail back to the house. so of course i knock another arrow and send out a few texts. 20 minutes later i have 3 spikes come in followed by an 8 pointer. As i watched him work a licking branch i knew i was going to shoot him. he gave me a 15 yard quartering to me shot in the same spot i had shot the doe. Laying a sweet shot on him he dropped in his tracks (a first for me!)! after 4 years of letting countless bucks walk past. my patience, hard work, preparation and tips from your show/forums finally paid off!! Congrats! Not a bad morning in the whitetail woods by any means. :tu:

My biggest words of advice would be to really watch it on those quartering-to shots. Depending on your height, how far the deer is and the exact angle there's times when you can make it work. However more often then not those shots are questionable at best. I've seen a lot of single lung/liver hits that make for tough recoveries.

Thanks. I always go 20', i learnt that morning that i will probably never take that kind of shot again. the doe was quartering very heavy. caught the one lung, through the hind quarter severing the femoral artery. i got very lucky with her. The buck was not quartering as heavy as the doe. placed the arrow just above the shoulder and the G5 did a splendid job. Just picked up a pack of killzones to thin out the doe herd until gun season..

he sure did have some great potential. i have other bucks around that are in the 130 class and above. I needed to cut my teeth on a buck like this first. i had a bigger 8 walk in a few years ago and got target panic. wounded him and couldnt find him. This buck was respectable and perfect for me to learn how to control my nerves during the moment of truth. from watching these web shows. i created a shot routine for myself, checked my gear through and through and practiced shooting since may, both on the ground and from a hang on at 20' placing my targets in every shot scenario possible. Now if only those bigger boys can make it through the orange army invasion. i will certainly have at least 3 popes to work on!!

I see Jet for sure target panic is something most bowhunters have dealt with at some point I still have it guilty as charged but its starting to wear off My only cure that I found was practicing not punching my release but rather slightly pushing through my shot using back tension also so now I just rest my finger on my trigger of course following my normal anchor position put the pin where u want it and wait for the bow to go off pretty much by itself this helped my target panic quite a bit. Practice is the key I think.
