Ok to keep this story short I'll sum up what I planned on doing today. We recently have been moving into this house where I can hunt on 80 plus acres of unpressured private land. Since we have been doing the move and everything that has gone with it I haven't had time in the last 4 weeks to check my stands and camera. Well today I took vacation to pull two of my stands on public so I could put them on the new land. To my surprise as I was entering the woods I noticed many stacks of logs and I was like OH CRAP! My stands, sticks, camera and life lines are going to be gone! As I was entering the woods I was heading to stand number one and I was hoping to the dear lord that they hadn't logged that deep in. Well as I gotten closer I realized that they had. I looked to the area where the stand was and everything was cleared! I was really pissed and mad at myself by that point but kept venturing on. As I got closer I realized they had skipped my tree where my stand was and placed my camera on my sticks and kept logging past it. I thought to myself, there are some really decent people still left in this world. The loggers didn't have to skip my tree. In fact they could have stole everything and kept it to themselves. I feel really blessed. As I go to stand number two it was the same deal. They logged right past it and kept going. I'm very happy to have gotten my gear back. Thankyou loggers!
Good to hear, loggers tend to get a bad name due to the nature of their profession. Most I have met are really good, hard working folks.
Great story! Glad you were able to get your gear back. Unfortunately they'll be logging our lease at some point this fall/winter. I can only hope all of our stands and cameras make it through...
Wow!! Lucky you. Now you need to do 2 things: Find out the name of the logging company and send them a thank you card and then go out and by a lotto ticket. LOL
I do feel very fortunate and am extremely thankful for the gift of the loggers. When I get a chance I'll try to post some pics that my camera took while it was hanging on my sticks watching the forest disappear.
There is a 500 acre lease north of us they started logging last week. Owners gave the guy's leasing it a heads up to pull their stand. Good thing he did cause these guys are clear cutting that place. Any tree large than 4 inches is getting cut.. they were able to get all their gear out before it started. Now I don't mind telling you that although I feel for the guys that had it leased the loggers are doing us a favor. We have already seen a huge influx of new deer on the 4 adjoining properties we have leased next to it..
That's cool that the loggers we're good people and saved your gear. With all the negativity we hear about people getting stuff stolen and such, it's cool to hear about these situations with happy endings.
That's a good deal. The last time i talked with loggers, they told me how one of them shot 3 deer off our lease while working. Glad to hear they're not all bad.
If I were you I'd figure out what logging crew it was and bring them a couple boxes of Joe and a few dozen doughnuts. They definitely saved you more than the hundred bucks you will spend on coffee and doughnuts Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2
