Anybody use them? Im looking at using them this year. I like that there is no rubberband or anything to rely on. Im just wondering about performance. Also how true do they fly as compared to field points? Im tore between these and slick tricks. I like an expandable, but a fixed is more reliable to me. If these fly pretty true to field point accuracy and have good reliability ill prolly try them. If not what are some other options that yall would suggest?
I've used them a few years and didn't have any problems. They did fly the same as my field tips and they made good blood trails. I can't say I ever had a problem with them. That's all my dad has ever used out of his crossbow and he has taken several deer with them.
Spitfires have always been my go to broadhead. I've tried many others over the years but spitfires seem to keep finding their way back into my quiver. Trying VPA's this year, they'll be sharing a spot with the spitfires this year. Just a dependable fool proof mechanical IMO.
I love them!!! Never let me down. Fly great and great blood trails. Every year I experiment with different broad heads just for fun and every year I stick with the spitfires. I went through about 15 or so other heads before I tried these and haven't changed in 5 years. Funny you mention slick tricks because if I were shooting fixed heads that would be it. I have been shooting the Spitfire Maxx for several years now and can't say enough about them. I have taken a bunch of deer with them and have no complaints.
A few years ago i used the Spitfire Pro's (had a blade on tip). They flew good and performed really well. But when it came time to re-using the broadhead that was another issue. The bh needed a complete dis-assembly, It has 3 tiny screws, 3 blades and 3 small tension pieces that hold the blades closed. After getting the dirt, blood ect cleaned out of the recessed blade slots, you could always bet something would be slightly bent and not allow all the blades to close properly without further adjustment.
Yes.. do not plan on reusing... after i shoot a deer with one I turn it into a practice tip generally or a finishing arrow if ever needed. that, I would say, is the only down side to them.
I love my spitfire maxxs! They are awesome, was using them the second year I started bowhunting which was when I was 16 and then switched to rages because that's when they were the heat...needless to say this will be my third season in a row with the spitfires and I love them. I won't be switching anytime soon!
I have been using Spitfires for a few years and I love them. I have tried a few other heads in between and I always go back to the Spitfire.
Spitfires work great. Took my first deer ever last year with one through the spine. After a good cleanup it went back into my quiver ready for another. I highly recommend broadhead tuning your bow with a fixed blade broadhead so you'll have the confidence that whatever broadhead you choose will hit where you want it to.
