What do you guys check your trail camera SD cards with?

I'm looking at buying a tablet to do this because I know how easy it makes it. What do you guys use?

 

I have a macbook pro with an SD slot so i usually carry that with me. Which to clarify, I didn't buy it for that reason lol. It's a work laptop.

 

For every trail camera I have 2 SD cards... Swap the cards out and check them on the laptop when I get home. Quickest and less invasive method besides a remote camera.

 

This is what I do, gets you in and out with minimal damage.

Yeah me too. Although there has been times I took my laptop and looked in my truck in the woods.

 

I have two SD cards for every game camera like you guys mentioned above, and I currently am checking the chips on my Macbook Pro. Sounds like I should just maybe stick with that...

 

Me too except I have mostly 32gb cards. Way faster and easier than trying to do it in the field. I carry them in a little black sd card carry case and have the blanks turned down and the fulls turned up. The cases hold 19 cards.

 

I use a Dane Elec media streamer and check them on my iphone. $30 at Walmart. Can be used with iOS and android devices. It fits in my pocket and doubles as a portable battery charger(for phones/tablets)

I would recommend sticking with what works... Another perk about checking them at home is you can really look at the pictures in detail with no glare from the sun, not have to deal with bugs, etc.

 

I use a iPad mini. That way I don't have to mess around with keeping track of old cards and new ones. It's pretty quick. If I have cameras close to bedding areas I do just swap and run. The iPad mini it limited on moving stuff around but a tablet hybrid like the Lenovo yoga might work better depending on your price range. Hardest part with tablets is finding one with a full SD slot. I use my samsung tablet and a SD card adapter to make sure I don't have some weeds or something setting off my camera then look deeper into them once I get home on my laptop.

 

I just swap cards and then use my laptop to check the pics when I get back to the house.

 

Laptop I have found to be the easiest for me

 

I bring the laptop and check in the truck once I swap cards... I often find I'd like to move a cam after checking them all and if I wait til I get home, that's not happening.

That said, I'd rather not check cams at all than have to go through all the pictures outside while still in the woods. Sounds miserable.

Samsung Galaxy tablet. Only has the micro-sd card slot, so I got the adapter to put the micros into a mini-sd card for the camera.

 

It depends on what you have as far as a smart phone goes...


I get the SD cards that have the mini SD with them from walmart. A 2 GB is like $8.
I pull the card, pull the mini, open up the back of my phone, swap the minis, take the pics from the mini to my internal phone storage, put my normal mini back in, replace the empty mini and walk.

Now I have a card in each cam and a few extras. That way I can just swap and walk. Check the pics in my truck with the heater on, or on my phone when the hunt slows down.

I bought an air stash after Fitz gave it good reviews. Download an app to your smartphone and they sync up via Bluetooth. If you can pull cards before your hunt you can view them while on stand. A little bigger than a pack of gum and wireless, so pretty convenient.
