Hey guys. I cut grass during the week while I play showcase baseball on the weekends. The money I work for is always saved up just in case something comes along. Well today there was a post on Facebook my parents made me aware of. A local was selling a bear mauler, ready to hunt. It came with 6 Easton carbon aftermath arrows- 340. The case was included. Also, he threw in an old CSS bow. I ended up paying $350 for all of it. I got home and shot the bow today. Although the draw length is two inch long, I shot pretty well. I plan on buying a few more arrows, maybe investing in some carbon expresses. I plan on tipping them with 100grain schwackers because they've been my trusted broadhead through the years of shooting my PSE stinger. After throwing a few lumenocks on the back of them, I should be ready to hunt. The arrows came with some heavy fixed blades broadheads of some sort. The how's IBO is at 328 fps but I highly doubt it was shooting close to that. Maybe once I get it fixed up, it'll shoot a little harder.

Just posting this to see what you guys think, if I did good on this deal or not.. I'm looking for any suggestions before I head over to the archery shop. Thanks.

    Congrats on the deal!

The first thing that you HAVE to do is get the bow set to your proper draw length. Without doing that, you will never shoot the bow consistently well, especially in adverse conditions in the woods. The best and quickest way to achieve that would be to go to a reputable pro shop and have them measure your draw. You might want to find a Bear dealer, it may be easier for them to locate the modules that may be necessary to adjust the draw length. They can also check the bow over thoroughly, and also make sure that your arrows are matched in proper spine to the bow's new set up.

    Good luck, hope this helps!

You need to have the proper draw length.

Recently went to the shop. Set me at 29 inches of draw. I got the numbers confused before with my old bow, sorry. Moved the peep down and had to replace the cables. A dozen easton bloodlines.. Shootin happy.

I agree. Very smooth and comfortable compared to what I've shot before.
