I've had the line snap twice any suggestions to prevent this?

It seems like it is fraying down right around the ams safety slide so maybe I will try a steel leader through it

Any slack in the line when you shoot?

Get rid of the garbage reel, and use line made for bowfishing! Haha seriously tho, 808s are junk, and the 80lb dacron is not even proper line. You should be shooting 200lb spectra or fast flight braid

The slack could be causing more of a whipping effect adding to the fraying...I happened to pick up an 808 in the store and was reading the packaging while killing time...see the warnings here: http://www.zebco.com/products/808bowfisher.html

Muzzy XD is the only reel i will ever buy. I spool mine with RPM bowfishing 200lb Redline or 200lb Power Pro. Yes 200lb spectra will work on an 808.... My buddy had an 808mag with 200lb spectra and blew the antireverse out of it on the first trip, after already being frustrated by the awful drag system and horrible arrow flight.

As far as slack goes, you need to have it all reeled up tight, slack is a bad thing and you could even be tangling on your reel handle and such without noticing. Get a TJE Designs Shoot Thru rod from Bowfishing Extreme and it will take stress and wear off your reel while keeping the line free of tangles
