I just saw that Michael Sam signed on to do a reality TV show. For a guy who by all accounts isn't strong enough, fast enough or big enough to play in the NFL...shouldn't all of his efforts be trying to do everything he can to make the team?
Hahaha. The guy that wants to be known for his football sure seems to have some other irons in the fire. This guy is a joke.
Being one of the first openly gay athletes has it's perks. It was only a matter of time until that happened. Just wait until training camp, when ESPN will be showing every drill he does. Media will push his story/life onto everyone, which will cause resentment more than anything.
Wonder if hard knocks will now try to make a push on the rams training camp. Wouldn't surprise me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He won't last long if even does make the final roster... I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't realize this so he is striking while it's hot in other venues... Not much different than Tebow writing a book and going around 24/7 as a speaker while still relevant. It's laughable he acts like he wants people to over look the fact he is gay (obviously not the case), but I don't blame him for making money while he is relevant.
I have no problem with him making all the money he can but it appears he is more worried about being a gay football player than an actual NFL player.
Probably because he realizes his limitations and that he likely won't ever be an actual NFL player. Being a gay football player is what will make him money, not the other way around.
You guys seem to forget that he was drafted by the RAMS. He will make the team. They are struggling to sell tickets, and the team simply is not very good. He played his college ball at Mizzou and that will also be a draw. The St Louis Post Dispatch has reported that Sam jerseys are already being requested in large volume. The Rams ownership wants a new stadium, and they need to sell tickets to avoid blackouts on Sunday. He may not be a NFL quality player, but I'd be willing to bet he will be on the sidelines in STL this season.
He's a 7th round draft pick... That's it!!!! Why is this guy making such a giant impact on the league. There have been gay NFL players since the league began!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He MAY make a roster... But the rams have the best D Line in the entire league... They are a **** team, but absolutely loaded up front where Michael Sam would play.
I also think many people forget Michael Sam was an outstanding college football player. The combine doesn't measure everything. The guy is powerful and seems to be pretty darn smart. Also, there are players that can bench 30 x 225, yet are not very powerful. I knew guys in college that had a hard time doing 225 X 20, yet could pick a 300 lb offensive lineman up off the ground and toss them like rag dolls. No pun intended, but Sam is cock strong.
I'd never claim he isn't good enough to be in the NFL nor strong enough... He just got picked up by a team loaded at his position for the publicity of him being gay... And he has certainly been okay with that fact up to this point. He may have a future in NFL, but I have a hard time believing it's with the Rams.
