After following many of the threads on here I've decided to give the slick trick standards a try, switching from my Rage 2-blades. While I've never personally had any problems with mechanicals, eliminating any possible chance of failure was my main motive for switching. I'll be sure to update this thread as I get a chance to practice with them. I'm hoping they fly as well as everyone says they do!
I've only hunted so far with mechanicals ...Killzones. I love them for deer...work great. I have an exotic hunt coming up the end of May (my retirement present) and I will be trying the slick trick for this one with my crossbow. I have an opportunity to hunt a Nilgai and I can't wait. So, I hope the slick trick works...will let y'all know.
I recently switched over to Slick Trick Mags myself from Rage 2 blade... my decision had more to do with size of quarry this fall (moose and elk on the agenda)... but I've heard great things for such an affordable head. I'll continue to use both into the future.
I'm hoping to take a few shots with mine tonight to see how they fly. I will say they look like a nasty little head once they are assembled.
There is a lot of great broadheads to choose from. I have killed many deer with the good old thunderhead 125 as well as the rage 2 blade. I also gave the slick trick a try after hearing a lot of local talk about them, and I wont be switching to anything else anytime soon. They are an awesome broadhead.
i switched to slick tricks about half way thru the year.... after i misplaced my quiver with all my hunting arrows.... Didnt have a chance to try them out but i do like them thus far in the backyard
Slick tricks will definitely do the job. In most cases they will fly true if your setup is a little out of tune. The price is decent and the ferrels last forever, just need new blades. Good luck and please post some pics once you make contact with something.
Had a chance to take a few shots with them today and they fly great. Granted it was only at 15 yards behind the house but I loves them. Hopefully it carries over to the range where I can shoot a lot further.
I switched back from mechanicals two years ago and chose the ST standards for whitetail. The first two deer I took with them left devastating wound channels and awesome blood trails, especially from such a "tiny" head. What I love most about them is they're tough as nails. ALL steel, no flimsy aluminum here. The ferrals will last a very long time unless you like to shoot block walls. All of the deer I took with them thusfar have been complete pass throughs and other than some nicked up blades, were still perfect.
All of the positive feedback makes me feel I made the right decision. Now if only this fall could hurry up so I can put them to the real test.
