I am looking to get my dad a new hunting pack for Christmas because the one he has just broke. What suggestions do you have for the best overall backpack for hunting whitetails out of a tree stand?
Eh, I wasn't that impressed with Badlands for the price. They're bad *** bags, just way too much money IMO. My problem with hunting packs is this. A 40$ Redhead bag from wal-mart will do the exact same thing as a 150$ Badlands bag. I know the argument "well a 150 dollar bow will kill a deer as much as a 1500 dollar bow will". But a bow has tangible advantages over one another and carries the life or death of another creature within it by how it performs. A bag just carries my crap and I take it off when I get to the stand. Anyway, I carry a Scentlok bag just because it matches my camo really close, it was about 70 bucks. I had a Tenzing before that, but after about a week of using it I decided it wasn't worth it and took it back and got the Scentlok bag.
Dang, I'm not even spending $40 on a bag! Like the guy above said, it just holds my stuff and that's all it has to do. I couldn't ever begin to imagine spending $150 on a bag. I use a $11 fanny pack type bag from wal mart. It holds everything I'll take with me on a sit. I snap it on either the arm of my climber or somewhere on a hang on. I am curious, what do you guys take with you that you need a full size back pack on a morning/afternoon white tail hunt?
I usually only take a pack if I'm going to be in the tree ALL day, or if I'm going to be hiking a lot throughout the day. I've got a Tenzing bow bag TZ1140 and I love it!

Lol 150 dollars could buy evrrything that goes in it i have a cheap walmart one lol works good for me
I like the idea of the treestand pack.. I'm not sure i would spend 150 on one though. I carry a back pack I got a bass pro shops. Not sure of the name but I think it was around 40 bucks. As far as what carry and why I take a full back pack... I like to carry extra clothes in mine. Something to drink, my knife and lots of other things that I never use lol. The main reason is the extra cloths. I hate being cold. Maybe one day ill get the treestand pack. I've had my current pack for 5 years now so it must be made fairly well.
