Well my number one was killed buy a gun hunter, on the next farm over last night. Little disappointed, but glad somebody gets to enjoy him. An that he wasn't takin illegally or by disease.
Oh man, my heart goes out to you. Appearently this is a common occurance this year. You can have a replica made if you're of a mind to...and have the dough but take a nitro pill just before you price them, lol.
I thought so too due to the body but the his head makes me think different, its not short and stubby its more narrow and longer. I could be wrong but I think he is an older deer. Just from the young bucks I have on camera they all have really shorter faces so to speak.
Wow he had some crazy character, to bad he was taken down by the orange turd herd. My heart goes out to ya, happened to me a few years back with a neighbor i dislike.
I am going to disagree on age. I would guess that deer to be at least 4.5 years old and possibly older. Not every mature deer gets massive in body size. There looks to be a lot of mass on that rack and that only comes with age. Younger deer can have some impressive beams and tine length, but they don't put on that kind of mass. Another tell is the fact that he has a lot of extra kickers and flyers. That usually indicates maturity also.
My first instinct like I stated was young....as I keep looking and studying I am where fletch is more so.
I'm going 4.5-5.5 judging from that muzzle. Does look to have a rather slim body. Congrats to the hunter!
That hurts! Don't feel bad though - at least 2, possibly 3, of our hit listers were taken out by the neighbors during 1st gun season. I'm sure there will be a couple more before this weekend is over...
All part of the hunt, congrats to the lucky hunter! Just be happy you were able to spend a season chasing such a beautiful animal!
I'm not sure how I'm going to feel if I find out my target buck was killed or not.... Awesome buck none the less!
No those are the only pics I got of him except one other one that I can't find anywhere. It was the same day as the velvet pic of him coming back from the bean field. I only saw him once while hunting. An I put him in the 4 1/2- 5 1/2 age group. He did loose a lot of weight since I saw him about a month ago.
Yep those are my same fears as well on a few that have gone MIA. More worried about the poaching and trespassing than anything.
I hear that, I`ve got some good ones on camera(for NY) that I haven't heard of anyone getting. I`m really hoping they make it through until next year.
