this is going to be my first year bowhunting, deer hunting for that matter usually I just hunt waterfowl but I am trying something new. I was alset to go buy a compound bow when I heard that my state Connecticut is voting on a crossbow season tomorrow and it is strongly rumored to pass. now I am not sure which to do and I am looking for advice. the compounds I am looking at are either the quest rogue or torrent and I am looking at the carbon express covert cx1 thank you

For me personally...I like the compound bow much better. We can hunt with Crossbows here in TN....but I don't. I guess it's a personal preference.

I would go with the compound. If for some reason your not able to pull your bow to full draw and hold it for a short bit then maybe crossbow but if that is not an issue I wouldn't.

If you enjoy shooting go with a compound. i sold my bow and got a stryker 350 shot a deer resold it and bought a Hoyt because i just enjoy shooting my compound. And if you miss with the crossbow and the deer sticks around and doesnt run off whats the odds of you cockering another bolt back without getting busted?

Compound for sure. Don't be one of those guys. Unless of course you cant use a compound.

Compound for me also. Too much like a gun...point..click...dead I prefer the challenge and the encounters and adrenaline rush that come with using compounds you just cannot compare.

On a bow hunting forum most everyone will say compound. I use a compound as well. You need to ask yourself if you will have the time and dedication for a vertical bow. While its not hard it does take more time invested to be good and confident to hunt with it. If you don't then its best to go with a xbow. They are easy to use and you can pick one up and be hunt ready in no time. Both can be fun and rewarding. I'm not a bow snob and care less what someone likes to use. Deer hunting is a blast and not everyone has to have the same challenge as the next guy. Some like long bows some like compounds and some like xbows. Any of them will get you in the woods and having a good time. Good luck.
