    Tired of my threads, yet?:D

So while I'm ripping into my water well issues (UV system being installed on Monday), the installer mentioned the option of a whole house or at source reverse osmosis system to get my water SUPER PURE (ok...he didn't use those words exactly).

My initial thoughts? Not worth the money. Extra filters to replace in addition to the filters that are part of the UV system, etc, etc. So, I figured I would try here and see if any of you have one of these systems (whole house or at source). Thoughts in general?

I have a softener and UV light... You don't need more than that for the whole house.... We have an RO system for drinking water

Don't fall for their sales crap

We had reverse osmosis at the last house and we loved it. Had a whole house system and like with water softeners we used less coffee dish soap and shampoo and body soap. We're in the process of getting bids for our new home.

I was quoted $400 installed for the whole house system for what it's worth.

Totally worth it. Pulls the bad stuff out of the water on your incoming water source

    Like $300-400 I think?

If I could turn back time, I would have done EVERYTHING myself...

I paid $600 for the whole house system (minus the outdoor spigots) but they had to reroute the outdoor lines to tie in before the filter. If I get a $400 quote, I'll be on it like the proverbial fly on ........

I had a RO unit that attached to my faucet. It was a Japanese model. No filters to replace, it has a five year life span and then you replace the whole thing. Not particularly cheap but it worked great.

It was indeed a reverse osmosis system. Instead of having the filters under the sink or where ever, this was a fairly compact unit that sat on the counter top. You could back flush it but not replace the filters. I've never seen another one like it. So now have bought a standard three filter type.

Point of use Ro is easy to install, great to use, and saves on other stuff like coffee pot scale, ice cube crud etc. Stuff just tastes better with good water IMO

Thinking about just purchasing online and doing the install my self for the point of use system. Can save some money that way. Just not sure what I'm getting into.

For the coin you save by doing it yourself, use shark bites and it will take you a few minutes...
