I have been trying to think about what all i need to get done so when October hits i am ready to go. I figured i would see what everybody else has left to do so maybe it will help me to not forget anything. Trying to get it all done before September so there is a month or so to let things settle. - Hang Stand (kind of behind the 8 ball on this one, would have liked some of them to be up already but we will get the 5 or 6 hung in August) - Cut some pull up ropes for the stands - Cut shooting lanes/ trim at the stands - Pull cameras - if i have time, and if needed, get some paths trimmed going to the stands - And need to get a Quiver... somehow i have lost mine at some point this spring/summer around the house. And it had 5 arrows 5 broadheads in it (not very happy about that)... really hoping it turns up before September so i have time to get another if needed. - Get some hooks for the trees Im sure im missing a few other little things that need to be taken care of but those are the main concerns for now. Im ready for Oct. 5 to be here.
I just have to hang stands and get are homemade stand blind built. that is about it. hope you get your "to do" list done by then... hopefully. Good Luck.
lol maybe I'm OCD... all my stands (6 permanent, 4 trees for climbers)are hung, lanes cleared, bow holders hung, acessary hooks hung trails to each stand marked with tacks and cleared of all debris.. BUT...this is my life, I have no other hobbies I live for this year round, every day all day all I think about is whitetails... EDIT: sorry, I don't mean to sound like a jerk, please don't take it that way!
I still have a ton to do. Need to get out and check out my new lease. Put up several more trailcams. Purchase and hang several new stands. Order all my new gear and get my new video camera. Sure I have a lot more to add to that list too.
I'm kind of behind a bit as well. - Finish trimming trails - Hang stands - Set up ground blind - Trim shooting lanes - Pull camera SD Im sure I'll think of more later.
I am going to be making a big distraction on the property so I was going to do it all at once. Hoping it will be on stressful deer in area and not many. In August when it's time to put the brassicas in. I'm going to build a elevated box blind on that plot. And set up 3 stands throughout the property. Check all cameras while in there. Then stay out until October 1.
Finish my deck and my honey do list SHOULD be complete. Then I'll be able to concentrate on the fun stuff.:what: Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
Work every call out to work I get til season. Hang a couple stands. Keep tabs on my cameras. Get to Ohio and Kentucky at least twice. Keep shooting my bow.
Wasnt taken that way at all. If i wasnt an over an hour away it and had a bit more free time other than just the veenings and weekends it would more than likely be done or just about done. I have that last week in August off so if we arent done by then, ill make sure everything gets done. Its also a new area and really werent sure where we were going to set up. But like i said we are behind the 8 ball.
I have to buy another dozen, maybe half dozen arrows. I'm down to 5. 3D shoots have really put a beating on my arrow inventory. Helped me out huge with my shooting and yardage estimation though. I need broad heads, too. I have to hang cameras still. I know where they move, I just need to know when. That's what I'm most behind on. I have two new properties I got within the last week that I need to scout completely, also. As for stands, I really just run around with a climber. So I just clip branches in my way while I'm in the stand. I feel like I'm way behind the 8-ball this year. Not good...but I'll get there. Still a bit of time left.
I forgot to add.....take my wife on a Saturday night getaway in august...kinda to prep her and smoth it over for whats to come this fall...lol...
Still have plenty of projects to do around the farm, some hunting related but most are just maintenance and (re)clearing access routes. Have at least 2 stands to buy and put up yet.
Waiting on the Heli-m to get back from the shop so I can get her sighted in, and need to start hitting the WMA on the weekends a couple of times and try to figure patterns of movement and so on. Luckily I have plenty of time since season doesn't open until October 15th, and have enough time to figure out the public land.
I need to trim a couple of trees. Hang one more stand Setup a ground blind Start feeding my 2nd property and hang a trailcam there.
Selective trimming once the water subsides. Permethrin the clothes. A bit of practice with broadheads...schedule vacation time. -Bill
