I used them a couple of years good blood trails excellent penetrate, but I could never get them to tune, I got as close to a 1/2" low and a 1/2" left to my field points.
All about placement. I took a doe last fall with an mx3 and my buddys were joking around about being able to follow the trail with a helicopter. Another pro is they are readily available at Wally world for a decent price.
My brother shot a stud of a buck with them with his 60# razor edge then watched it pile up 20 yards away. When I shoot them I have no problems at all. I've shot as far out as 60 yards and they have always been spot on.
If I were you I would check out the Slick Trick or Thunderhead Razor. In my mind both are better than a Muzzy. The reason is the blades are thicker and sharper on both.
I can't get them to tune out of my bow either. I use slick tricks. They are sharper, as well. Blood trails are decent.
Shot the 4 blade Muzzy for years. 40 kills? Great head. I switched to Hellrazors for better groups and durability at 3d's. So far the Hellrazors has been great for hunting. Montecs are great but more $$$. fixed blade will give You a clean pass thru vs. expandables. I like the exit and lower drain hole for trailing.
I shoot the Muzzy Mx3's and they shoot great. Closet shooting to my field points than any fixed blade I have used. Great Blood trails
Muzzy makes great broad heads. I had some of the original 3 blade 100 grain heads and loved them. Blood trails were more than good enough to follow at a walking pace without stopping. Only cons I can think of are the screw in head, which I wasn't a huge fan of, the blades chipped easily on mine (replacement blades are cheap for Muzzys though) and for some reason, I know of so many people that can't get them to fly straight. I never had a problem, but I know alot of people do. If I were you, I'd give them a shot. Worst case scenario, you can't quite get them to tune so you sell them. Someone out there is always looking for some Muzzy broad heads. Good luck!
I was never able to get the 4 blade model I had to group well, even after going through all kinds of tuning steps.
Not sure about the original Muzzy's...but Mx3's shoot very well outta my bow. Now my is tuned...but they hit right with my field points every time.
Like others have said they are difficult to tune, at least for me. I have shot both the original 3 blade and the mx 3's, and for me the Original 3 blade flew much better. I have only killed one deer with them and it was the first deer I killed with a bow and I made a not so great shot hitting her in the spine. The follow up shot was a heart shot and when I got down and rolled her over there was a huge pool of blood. So with good shot placement your blood trail will be very good. I did shoot one deer with them and idk what happened but I had good blood for about 50 yards and then nothing. I never found the deer so I figured it was a bad shot but Im just not sure. They are very durable and if you just give them a shot you can tell for yourself whether they are for you or not. Everyone likes something different that's one of they great things about bow hunting.
