This past weekend the wife had been complaining about some contractions she was having. We called the hospital and they just told us it was early labor and to keep a record of the contractions and not to worry about making the 45 minute drive. Sunday came and the contractions were still occurring but still very sporadic as far as frequency was concerned. I was actually doing some yard work and the wife wanted to go to the hospital. I told her she was probably over-reacting and continued my yard work. Again, the hospital agreed so I didn't feel like such a d!ck. About 7PM she said she really wanted to go to the hospital to "get checked out" and we phoned the hospital to give them a heads up. They said it was fine and that they never tell anyone NOT to come even if they (hospital) thinks it would be a wasted trip. So we load the car up and start our journey. About 10 minutes into the ride, Megan's water broke. HOLY CHIT! My foot got a little heavier as I weaved in/out of traffic to get to the hospital. I remember realizing that I was gripping the steering wheel for dear life. It was an intense ride. The wife found a Kroger bag and was trying to situate it under her bottom to prevent getting the seat wet....too late! We were admitted to the hospital at 8:30 PM and our little girl was born at 10:37 PM. A quick birth and I'm very proud of my wife. She wanted a natural birth (no drugs, epidural, etc) and she followed through with her plan. I was there the whole time helping to coach her and experience the miracle. Never got queasy and actually found myself peeking to see her "business" and the progress she was making. I'll never forget it. Without further delay, here is our little girl. Maelyn Frances Wright. She was named after both of our grandmothers. My grandma went by Mae and we added the "Lyn". Megan's was Frances. We also wanted something unique and not trendy. She weighed 6lbs 9 ozs and was 19 inches long and has already stolen my heart! The steak dinner the hospital provided on our last night. I snuck a beer in to celebrate! :D Momma and child Her first bath. Not a happy baby!
Absolutely awesome. Love and embrace every minute of it. Even the not so good ones. They will go by faster than you can imagine sent from my samsung note 2
Congrats to you all! Hope Mom and baby stay healthy and happy! If this is your first girl boy I have some stories for you buddy!
Ok Finch Here is your Daughter Leason 101 Rule 1! My daughter was 16 at the time this happened and now she is 18. I came home from work and noticed that the wife got out 5 rib eye's for supper. I normally cook just for her and I since the kids work. I then figured that my daughter must of had a couple friends over. I went to her room to find her boyfriend face first in her boobs. She still had her bra on but her shirt was pulled up. I crossed my arms and said "I take it you guys are eating supper with us since mom got out extra steaks?" My daughter slowly started to pull her shirt down and she stated "I am and Mikey is going home!" I said "Good thing!" No sooner did I get in the kitchen I heard the back door slam shut. To this date he has never been back here since and they no longer date. My daughter told the wife that night "Dad was mad his face was beat red and he crossed his arms so he would not kill Mikey!" I guess I am doing my job!
