I know I know its the same old same old every year for some of us. But what will you do different this year? What will you do to enhance your chances? What changes will you make?
I'm going to cut back on the use of trail cameras, hit public land more finding buck beds to slip in and kill them in their staging areas, hunting beast style. Also want to work on staying more calm on the shot, been struggling producing that perfect shot on mature whitetails.
Well put in over 160 hours on just one buck last year (way more on others)....my goal this year is only 8 hours haha!
I have already been out in the woods more this season scouting then I have the last few. I already have found a few bedding areas and have marked some trees for future stand locations. I am also using trail cameras this season which I haven't the past few. I am also waiting on 8 new tree stands to arrive at the store and look forward to getting them hung! Usually only have up 2. I am also hunting with a new friend on the property so between his and my stands we have this place covered!
I hunt exclusively public land and I hope to learn the area I'm hunting a little better. I've been doing my homework on these two areas and really want to get a good buck here. More time scouting and hopefully hunt smarter!
Well I'll get out and scout the public land more this year and also a new hunting area where it's a lottery to get on and on towards the top of the waiting list so I have a good shot of hunting there. There is less pressure do to being only so many people hunting. I'll have to learn the area. Good thing I have someone from the forum that hunts there and is right down the road from me . Also I'll be filming my hunts so that will give me a different look and thing to be aware of to get the perfect shot. I'm looking forward to this fall more so than last year. I feel like on already more prepared and I'll just be adding to that as I get in the woods more.
Learning a new lease I have so just exploring more and setting up new stands for there. Also focusing on perfect heart shots than close enough lung shots.
You will get it done. I still have to shoot my first buck. Hopefully it will be on film this year though.
Hunt for one Big Buck. I have never done that before. He will be my main focus. He may be the State record for a bow here in NC if he makes it until hunting season. I have other land to hunt for doe, but this buck has my complete focus this year.
My plan is to wait for a bigger buck this season, we will see how that goes. I have this problem where I see and good buck and my bow draws itself
I'm going to plant a few more food plots on my land. I have already put up 3 more stands in the last month.
well I guess the big thing I'm doing different is, I'm actually bow hunting this year. usually I'm a gun only kinda guy.
1. I am not going to let a nice 7 pointer walk by, twice, on opening day without taking a shot. 2. I have already done more scouting this year than I did last year but I am going to move my cameras to other locations to find more bucks.
Food plot on in laws land workout routine designed for endurance to and from stand and being rock solid at full draw scout a ton make efforts to obtain private land Practice shooting from stand Invest in equipment Im sure there's more...
Im going to be back in the stomping grounds to hunt the rut instead of nose deep in books like i have been the past 4 seasons.
Wow, alot lke new years resolutions here....hopefully I'll do better with these, than I did with them. This year I'm waiting for something to mount on the wall. Last year's doe tasted good though. Already got permission on a different property..going to try to get permission on another one close to home here.
I Broadhead tuned my bow. I usually just sight in the broadheads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
I like that ^^^ idea too!! My hopes are that I can make it to Ohio to scout more and prep stands better. That and hunt as many weekends in addition to the week in November I am planning. Bow only and I need to be better prepared this year.
