Just a heads up to everyone. I know a lot of you guys head to Kansas for hunting season. There will be some new regs this year. Any centerfire cartridge is now legal in the state, along with slugs from any gauge instead of just 20 and larger. Crossbows are now legal during bow season along with a host of changes for arrow and bow attachments such as radio tracking on arrows and electrical devices on bows. LINK
Crossbows are legal as long as you're either disabled or over the age of 55. For instance, I cannot use a crossbow during bow season because I'm 22 and healthy. I can, however, use one during rifle season.
"– Crossbows will now be legal for all hunters during archery deer seasons in Kansas. Previously they were only legal for those with approved physical limitations, those 15 and under and 55 and older, in four deer management units involved in a two year study."
Huh. I could have sworn that it was still a limited weapon. Well, looks like we've got more competition in the woods this year. Kind of disappointed, but whatever.
I'm suprised the leniant crossbow rules passed. I'll be interested to see what they conclude at the end of this 2 years study. Cant say I'm excited to share the woods with more hunters, but I dont see the harm in it either. Theyre hunters just like us, only with a different weapon.
