I bring an assortment of slate and box calls, as well as a crow call.

I have some diaphragm calls, but it sure sounds like a wounded bird when I use it. I just don't have the knack.

I use a scratch call with a metal plate on a hollow box. I can't remember the name of it but I have had it for about 30 years. Originally it had a cedar stick and a corncob but I use a plastic scratch peg with it now. I also sometimes use a wingbone style call that I made with a piece of #10 wire insulation and a film canister. Last year was my first year back turkey hunting in years but I used to knock them down pretty regularly. I have never called in many birds with a diaphram except hens, jakes and predators. I guess it is like fishing lures, you succeed with what you have confidence in.

I've never had luck with the HS, I sound like a Canadian goose no matter what. I'm sure it's me. I Just tried a Flextone Spur Collector yesterday and it did sound pretty darn good at first and then after about an hour it fell apart.

I have a Primos Jackpot glass call, some sort of Primos box call, and some sort of H.S Strut slate call. As you can tell, I keep up with turkey calls pretty well :D

I have far too many to list, and I use most all of them. I like to really mix it up in the woods, I will use different calls at different times. Sometimes two at once, you'd be amazed how often a bird will respond to one call but not the other.

I take the kitchen sink...have a pouch of various mouth calls I've collected over time...probably three of which I actually use. I carry a Bill Baublit custom box call, a Bill Baublit custom copper over glass pot call, and a slate over glass pot call from Derby City.

I'm not very good with a mouth call and wind up using the box call and a pot call most of the time. The Derby City is a new addition this year so it will likely get a workout.

I don't have any loyalty to any particular brands but I typically use a slate call to do some soft tree calling and then once they fly down I usually switch over to diaphragm calls to limit movement.

I use diaphragm calls from cramer's custom calls, a slate call from hanks game calls, and a box call from hardy's custom calls. The box is great where I live for the windy days, or trying to bring a bird in from a long ways out.

Only luck I've had at all around here is with a diaphragm. I have about 8 now I think and only really like 2 of them. Both are Primos. One is a dome type and the other is a 3 reed both have the cut out reed on them. That's all I'll carry this year.

Im very experienced with a diaphram call, but still bring everything I have !! I have had birds that would not answer to a box call or slate, and had them get real vocal with a mouth call.. And sometimes the complete opposite.. and harvested one with a box call when the slate and mouth call would not work.. Bring it, and see what works.. I agree with different calls at the same time.. Sound like a flock of hens..

    Good luck to all..
