im looking to drop my gf down to a 85g broad head. she was shooting 100g but there was such a gap between her 20 and 30 and 40 yard pins. i wanted to drop her down some to fill the gap so when we do a 3d shoot it wouldnt be to much of a guess. but now im looking for a good fixed blade broadhead in 85g and need some advice on which one to go with... thanks everyone for your help! BTW she has a 25" DL. 43lb DW, and is shooting CX maxima blue streaks 250
I would honestly stay in a 100 grain head or better yet, a 125. Imho she shouldn't be shoot much past 25 yards if at all so trajectory will he a non issue. Anything COC would be fine, I would look at a Magnus stinger. I would stay away from the SlickTricks as they are a 4 blade which would require more energy to push than any 2 blade. If you want her pin gap smaller, make them 5 yard pins. Or move the sight in closer.:p 85 gr will not make enough of a difference to matter on her pin gap at hunting distances. My son shoots a 100 gr.(4 blade, 2 blade with bleeders) magnus buzzcut with a 75 gr brass insert. 45# and 25" draw length. Don't fall into the trap, it isn't worth it. sent from my samsung note 2
Slick Trick makes a fine broadhead in 85 grain. So does NAP Thunderhead. They are both proven designs, and have been around for years. All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence; then success is sure - Mark Twain
I don't think I would drop to a lighter bh. Stay with 100gr and set her pins at 10 and 20. Just tell her to get comfortable and precise at 20 and under and not to shoot anything farther.
I agree with staying at 100gr heads. I would check out the NAP Killzones. They have a new one for this year that is specifically for lower KE bows. Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk 2
Muzzy also makes a good 85Gr fixed blade, my aunt is currently shooting it and seems to fly pretty true out to 40
