What the next step I should take to get a little more room for hauling stuff in my Z71 Suburban? I'm usually fine but moving a bunch of stands and feeders to a new lease so need somthing extra for a weekend or two every now and then. I'm thinking roof rack/box or one of those trailer hitch shelf's.
I have a hitch haul and it is great for a little extra space but the best I've found was a small trailer as it will haul way more and when I move stands I can pre assemble most of the parts.
Yep. Small trailers can be had for cheap and are a lot better than a hitch hauler, especially for a Suburban. What if you want to open the back end of the Suburban up? The hitch things would be in the way if it was loaded.
Take your seats out? Whenever I need to haul anything I grab my wifes van and take the seats out. I believe suburban seats come out for hauling don't they?
Yep was thinking the same about a hitch hauler but thought I'd just put my big hog cooler on it so that may be easier to take on and off. Don't know if I need a whole trailer. I have a double axle boat trailer now that I was thinking I could retro fit as a hauler also. What I need is a friend with a little trailer. Storage is always an issue for another trailer as well. Nobody uses a roof rack/box?
Go to Harbor freight and get one of there fold up trailer kits Around 400$ they work great and take up very little room when not in use . I have 2 of there trailers a hitch rack (not very good IMO) and a roof rack for my yukon . It just depends on what You really think you need . I like the safari rack on top but only for gear thats not real heavy. JMO.
Personally I think the roof racks/boxes are a PITA and don't add enough space for what they cost. I guess if I was driving cross county and needed to try and save gas by driving a smaller vehicle I could see it. But to get one for the occasional use at home I would want something that actually adds a lot of space and is easy to use (AKA as a trailer).
