Hey i heard that feral hogs have tough shoulders so what broad heads would you recommend for them? I am guessing my rages would not be a good head.
I killed a bunch with Ramcats and they worked well....any good stout fixed blade will work ok. If your go with mech I would use something on the smaller side, figure 1.5 max...1.25 would be even better....also something with a solid steel ferrule...steelheads, new ulmer edges, ect......that said a sturdy fixed blade would be my first choice.
I've killed quite a few hogs and have had good luck with every head I've used. There was a time a few years ago that I was shooting them on a regular basis so I bought whatever mechanical head was on sale at Walmart. They all did the trick just fine. The Muzzy 4 blade 100 grain was my regular head when I didn't have any of the others. Good luck.
Hi ! For me the best for hogs are the Zwickey Black Diamond Eskimo Broadheads. Use'em very sharp. In France, it works just fine for big boys arround 250 pounds. Generally if your shot is low, everything will work. But if it's a bit high...you'll need penetration and solidity.
Google Dr. Ashby and you know more about broadheads and arrows than you even care to read... the man has thirty years of tests and some very in depth studies over this... I bet after reading all Ashby reports there wont be any doubt on what broad head to useg. For me i think an easton injection with a cut on contact head... around five hundred grains and out of a 70# bow... i bet that would go through a moose.
Some friends and I do a lot of hog hunting and what we found to work the best for hogs has been the Grim Reaper Razortip and the Grim Reaper Razorcut SS; but I don't know if you like using mechanical broadheads though, I have used the Muzzy 100 broadheads and it has taken smaller hogs down but honestly though the Reaper hasn't failed me.
I dont have actual experience on this but i am also planning on going hog hunting soon. After doing some research and watching many hog hunting videos it seem that a fixed blade is the way to go. This is just my opinion of course. One mechanical head i have heard that works well on hogs are Grim Reapers. I ordered some 100gr G5 Montec for my hog hunt and just received them today. I like the fact that they are one solid piece and can be resharpened. Cant wait to use them here in the next couple of months.

I have shot them with muzzy mx-3's and muzzy phantoms. They both worked fine but it seemed like they bled more with the phantoms and didn't go as far. Next two I want to try are QAD Exodus and Slick Tricks, I hear nothing but good things about those two.
Use something that you feel confident with. Personally I would prefer to use either a COC or a fixed with replaceable blades, because I saw a show a while back maybe 6 months ago and the broadhead just bounced off the pig, the second one barely had penetration, and the guide had to put the animal down with a rifle.
Fixed blade is the only way to go! Already loosing a ton of energy trying to get through their skin. Look for a sturdy large diameter fixed blade. The cheaper the better!!!
