Why the hell are baby clothes so expensive?

    My theory on baby clothes:

Women shop for them the majority of the time. It's a common fact that women are more impulsive buyers than men and the simply fact that baby clothes are both needed and to woman a fashion statement the designers know they can jack prices up because if it's still eye catching, fashionable or "cute" they'll still sell. THe true cost of them comes out when they go on clearance and bam they're like 80% off.

This brought a big smile to my face. You just wait. Are you guys going to try and use breast milk or using formula?

Seriously look at a quality baby consignment place. Most of the clothes are pretty much brand new in there because they were only worn a few times because the babies grow so darn fast. Seriously do this.

Because people will pay it. If you look, there are certainly less expensive places to buy baby clothes. If you want to shop at Gap Baby, expect to pay ridiculous prices for a onesie or a coat your kid will wear two times.

Check Burlington Coat Factory. There is one in Shreveport. Their prices are usually pretty low for the same crap.

My entire belief in supporting local businesses is being thrown right back in my face by my wife at the moment. She keeps going to all these local baby boutique stores (I just learned these things actually exist). When I complain, I get "But I'm supporting local businesses"

Tell her to support the local consignment shop! :D

(Seriously, you can find like new stuff in those places - kids outgrow clothes so fast, sometimes it only gets worn one time)

Clothes are cheap compared to diapers, LOL

Get used to throwing logic out the window. I had to buy all pink stuff for my girl, so when I have a boy I need to buy everything again in blue.

Keep expensive clothes to a minimum to keep her happy, then get her to buy other stuff at the slightly used shop. Will save you thousands!

Red meat is not bad for you. Green fuzzy meat is bad for you!

Because parents and grandparents are suckers to the excitement of giggles and poots. The second child just gets hand me downs.

After you have the kid and your six weeks are up, let us know who far you get them to squirt.

I hate to tell you but it gets worse, you think the clothes are high, the doctor visits, medicines, toys and you don't even want to get quotes on auto insurance for a 16 year old, and that is for a beater car....As the old saying goes, been there, done that.

Well...an unexpected turn of events just took place. My wife just accepted a job on the very boutique that she bought all these expensive baby clothes from. She went back this morning with my Mom, and my wife and the owner started talking, and now she will be managing the store. Which is awesome, because that means no more having to work nights, more relaxed atmosphere, more relaxed dress code, etc. Overall a win.

And my wife is now excited because she will be getting 50% off all the baby stuff from the store now as well

But Hooker... they're so cute in that $1 piece of fabric that they'll only be able to wear for a month. That's why you pay $85 dollars for it. LOL

That means she'll buy twice as much.

    Yep! Exactly what that means!

Hooker, hope you child doesn't grow like one of ours is right now. He is 3. Two months ago we had to buy him 4T pants. It wasn't a month after buying them they were too short. So, had to go back out and buy him 5T jeans. The cheapest ones we could find were $15 a pop but, he had to have ones with elastic adjustable waist bands. That took them up to $25 a pop I believe they were. I hope he makes it through winter with them. Our other 3 year old is 2 sizes smaller and has a lot of nice practically new clothes.

It seems to never end. But, outgrow, buy, outgrow, buy some more. I could probably buy a new truck with the money I've spent on kids clothes

This does nothing but reinforce my no kids and no wives policy.

I may even begin boycotting these weddings I'm supposed to be in if my buddies don't start slowing their role!
