Im 42 and been hunting since I could walk and I have never seen a yote. Ok I did see one once but I was riding my Harley on a back country road when he crossed it. I dont count that because I wasnt hunting. I see lots of bears. Would they keep the yotes away? Anyone else never seen a yote?
I have seen a few while rifle hunting in WI. Never seen one while hunting here (have gotten a few on camera). I've seen dozens of wolves though Not sure on the bear effecting yote sightings, but wolves sure do!
I've seen lots of them while hunting and I also get them on my cameras regularly. Blessings.........Pastorjim Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
I've never seen any hunting or had any on my cams. Seen one walk up the road a few years ago. I'm told there's a bunch here but I haven't seen any.
I have some to spare! I'll see what I can do bout sendin em yer way... Oh, and I see yotes nearly everytime I'm in the field.
I too have only seen them from a vehicle. Never seen one while actually out hunting. My father told me he saw one while out hunting last Saturday evening. This, I'm sure, has a bit to do with me not seeing any deer lately aswell. Haha. I'm kinda bummed cause I would love to take yote. Will definitely take one if afforded the opportunity.
Two coyotes killed this weekend and seen 2 more shotgun hunting. We have plenty. Planning on trying to trap some after Jan 15 when deer hunting is over. Never done before, but a guy across the river I hunt by caught over 30 on about 300 acres.
I haven't seen but I've heard them at night barking and yipping. Within the next couple weeks I'm hoping to put one down with my bow
I have hunted 36 years. I never saw a Yote until about 7-8 years ago. Now I see 20-40 a year. Saw my first wolf (2 together) this spring turkey hunting. I got a Wolf on game camera this August. Have many Yote pics on game cameras.
I thought every hunter sees coyotes regularly. I'll see 4 or 5 per year while deer hunting, 2 or 3 while turkey hunting and quite a few more randomly. It's about time to start coyote hunting. Here's a video of a quick coyote hunt I went on last year. http://hunterslink.com/hltvcoyote.html
I have only seen 3 Coyotes in the 7 years we have owned our land, but we hear them howling about 3/4 of a mile away every morning that we sit. It's weird we don't see more. Maybe about 2 dozen cam pics or less in 7 years. Have hunted them several times with no luck.
Growing up in Orange county NY i would always see them as a child across the street in a run down apple orchard. Then i moved to WV and i have yet to see one while hunting. People i know have gotten a few recently. This was my first year to hunt in MD. which i was hoping to get a shot at one but havent seen any.
It's a geographic thing as much as anything else. My favorite animal in the woods other than the whitetails is the squirrels - they are so dern entertaining! I have never seen a fox while hunting - although I've got one on camera recently and if he crosses my path he's hitting the dirt. I hadn't seen any Yotes in my first 3 years of hunting - this year I've seen and heard a dozen or so. I personally haven't seen any bears or mountain lions. But I'm hunting in south western Indiana - we don't have many bear running around.
This year I had my first ever shot at a buck with my bow. I misjudged the distance and shot right over its back, but I had a big half red and half black fox scurrying around 5 yards from my tree at the same time. When I grunted the buck in, the fox also came running in. The fox and buck would look at each other about every 20 seconds but didnt mind each others presence. They were only 25 yards apart and it was relatively open so they clearly seen each other. Oh yeah, at the same time I shot I had a squirrel on a tree face level 4 feet away barking at me. Its funny you think everything has to be quiet! Usually see about 7 or 8 yotes each year but this year only fox. I guess if fox are around, yotes arent very close cause they kill the fox.
I dont see a ton of them unless we are hunting and calling them. The wolves are staring to thin them out up in the mountains for sure and I am sure they aviod bears at all costs too.
