I am beginning to think that when the army comes out around our place, the deer go into stealth mode. Two seasons in a row by the second to third week of rifle season it's like a switch gets flipped in my area and the movement in the mornings stops. First couple weekends you see deer and hear blasting then it slacks off and so does the deer movement.

Then I start seeing mid day action and mid night action. May have some to do with moon phase or a combination of all of the above.

    Anyone else have the problem??

The difference is like night and day by me. I went out with my rifle last sun(day after opening day) and this sun and i saw no deer today and only 2 does last sunday. The land owner has seen maybe 5 deer this whole week while hunting. When i was bow hunting the least amount of deer i saw this year was 3 with an average of 12 a day. Im headed up for one more day and im done for the year.

The deer here most definitely change! Some of my small properties pick up others slow WAY down. It's the beast of the woods come this time of year for each of us at our own times.

Our gun season ended today & I am a happy camper! I despise wearing orange when I bowhunt.

Shotgun season starts saturday and runs through the 16th. I'm hoping to get my buck Friday before they hit the woods. Last year he vanished during gun season hopefully he survives this one too. If I don't get my buck Fri, I'm taking the week of the 17th off.

Gun seasons mess up all their patterns and routines with the moronic tactics gun hunters use. Hopefully they get back to normal quickly after the shortbus army moves through.

I'm thinking about hunting mid day hunts and see what happens. Last season, I started seeing them on my way out of my woods in the 10:30am-11:30am time frame.

I have notice the rifle guys have a pattern and maybe the deer adapt. It seems most all of them head in on their ATV's around 30 min before day break and out around 8:30am-9:00am. I have yet to hear of or see a gun hunter in any earlier or any later than those hours. In the after noon it's in 2 hours before dark and out just after the sun goes down.

Maybe the deer pattern the hunters.

They always switch patterns by us after gun season.
I will usually get in the stand by about 930 and sit all day now.
