up until this year i shot a crossbow. last year i came very close to death with my crossbow. it was my fault completely, the first time i forgot to unload the bolt it almost cost me my life. please never trust the safety or think nothing can happen. i always unloaded except that one time, i was tired from a long day on stand and lacked sound judgement. i still accept crossbow hunting as legit, it's just not for me anymore. god bless!!!

So what exactly happened? Did the bolt discharge and hit or almost hit you?

it discharged split my nose in half on the left side, ran up my nose just missing my left eye, then across my forehead. two and half hours of surgery and 160 stitches later, my crossbow days were through. it took 3 weeks to open up the bag so i could clean it to sell. i will try to upload pics.

Yeah, those NAP bloodrunners lived up to their name, didn't they Aaron? You are so lucky you just happened to be looking up at the time and not down otherwise the outcome would have been very different.

Sorry to hear about your accident aaron, but glad you got through it. The part about this story above that I do not understand is why would Cabela's lawyers move the case to a federal court in East St. Louis Illinois. Talk about a low, dirty, kangaroo court system they have over there! Usually the lawsuits that take place over there are all about suing and cleaning out companies for tons of money. That is very strange indeed.

i dont know anything about that lawsuit. just wanted people to be very careful. i cringe when i see adults buying these things for their young hunters, like i did today. wanted to shake some sense into them.

Blessed indeed. I never trust the safety on any weapon. To many stories out there like this one that don't have such a fortunate ending.

Wow...glad your ok.....but seriously that could have happened with any weapon....you have to unload your weapon when going up and down from your stand.....also stalking animals with a xbow is dangerous and if the kids are taught correctly their remember this....hunting can be dangerous and we can only hope we re not hurt while doing something we really love to do....hope you healing well....be safe...Thunderbolt52

Wow. Glad your here to tell the tell:(. That's messed up.

I hunt with a guy that uses a cross bow and he's always loading and unloading it to put in the truck and those things do worry me.
