Has any one heard or does anyone know about Cali having a deer season archery only in mid July and early August??
I'm not really sure what the question is, but yes they do have a season that comes in mid July in northern cali for columbian blacktail deer.
There are a few zones that open in Mid July mostly in Northern and Central California. Our archery season in Southern California starts Sept. 1st.
The north and south A zone of California open the second Saturday in July and runs for 23 days. I've hunted the south zone, but with rifle which I think is the second Saturday in August till mid-September. Not the biggest deer, but they are fun and good eating still. A lot of decent public land you can hunt like Fort Hunter-Liggett, Camp Roberts, and lots of national forest land.
Just found my zone map with all the dates. A Zone archery is JUL 14 - Aug 05. B zones 1, 2, 3, and 5 are Aug 18 - SEPT 09. B4 Zone Jul 28 - Aug 19. B6 Zone Aug 18 - SEPT 09. Most of the D Zones start SEPT 01 - SEPT 23 with D3-10 running from AUG 18 - SEPT 09. Like Justin said, they are not the biggest deer but they sure are fun to bow hunt. Hope this helps.
