I picked up my new Mathews Heli-m bow with a 27.5 draw length, Doinker Stabilizer, Spot Hogg Hogg It sight and Whammy rest. The draw weight has been set at 63 pounds for now, and can be tuned up to 70 pounds. For arrows I chose Easton ST Excel arrows cut to 27.5 inches and 100 grain field tips. To start, the draw is smooth, and the action upon release is quiet with little to no noise or vibration. The bow itself is only 3.5 pounds. This might be helpful when carrying the bow in the field, but the light weight makes no real difference when an arrows been drawn and the bow is ready to fire. There's also a noticeable difference in speed compared to my previous Parker EZ Draw bow. Granted I saw this coming since my Parker bow was set to 55lbs, and top IBO speed was about 40 fps slower. I honestly wish i thought of that before drove 2 arrows into and through a 10 yrd target with a 1/4 inch backing. Those arrows are still stuck in the target.
I'm a Mathews man, my first was years ago with an MQ32...today I shoot a Switchback XT and love it. Congrats on your new bow..I learned this long ago when it comes to a bow.."One man's trash is another man's treasure"...I too have tried the new Heli~m and also the current Z7 Extreme...and although both are excellent bows..for me personally..I'm staying with the XT..it just feels better in my hands than any of the new line up by Mathews. Good luck to you and happy hunting with that heli~m, Its an awesome rig.
helim is an awesome bow have shot all new mathews bows and I as well will stick with the swithback xt it is was working well for me at this time and it's a true joy to shoot wish you the best with your new bow I know you as well will love mathews nothing better on the market
Just picked up the Helim a couple weeks ago. Have had a few Mathews and will have to say imo beleive the Helim is the best yet. Shoots very smooth, quiet, accurate, speedy, with very little or no vibration. Some might say that it is too light; but with accessories it balances out nicely and holds well on spot. Speed wise I have mine set at 60 lbs, 29" draw, 400 gr GT pro hunter at 280 fps. Good luck with the new Helim. I love this one.
I've been shooting Matthews since '96, on my forth bow, I now shoot the Z7extreme. Awesome bows, company and PR.
Switched to the Gold Tip 22 series and dropped arrow weight to 356 gr and picked up an additional 15 fps to 295 fps. Bow still very quiet and very accurate out to 50 yards. Ck
