I know alot of you fellas build natural blinds when you turkey hunt but how many of you do it in deer season and have success? i got bored today and the wind was whooping pretty good so i knew i had good cover from being heard so i just took some cotton clothes line rope and some camo burlap and went to it and enjoyed it i'll post pics tomorrow hopefully w/ "Big Boy" down in front of it.

I think you will have as much a chance for success as anyone else if.....the deer cannot smell or see you, and if you are located in a spot where deer will cross your path. Pretty simple to me. Best of luck.

I've had some decent success from a natural ground blind in the past. Saw one of the best bucks while hunting when I was in a blind in an overgrown Christmas tree field, tagged a good doe out of another blind built into the bottom of a big uprooted maple.

Haven't sat in a natural blind in a while though. Bought a pop up this spring for turkeys, and I leave that out in the woods for a week at a time or so, and I take it down if there's supposed to be any high winds...learned the hard way on that.

Back when I first started bowhunting, natural ground blinds were all I used. I'd find a deadfall and tweak it to suit my needs, or I'd just take broken branches and lean them against a tree to break up my outline. I've probably gotten about 8 deer that way. It IS up close and personal. I'm strictly a tree stand hunter now though.

I have had success from blinds and love blind hunting. The one thing I learned about using them is try to place them on higher ground ( and it doesn't have to be very high) to get a bit of an angle to your arrow for a better blood trail. The other things I like to do is wear a leafy/ghille suit in the blind, and just over a month prior to the season I rip up a yard working shirt and leave a few small pieces around the area. I do this out to about 100 yards from the blind in all directions. I some blinds I like to use straight doe pee ( not in heat ) and place that out there about 2 weeks prior to season, freshing it up when i'm out there. This way here the deer are use to my smell and continusly have fresh deer scent 20 yards or so from the blind.
