Found this guys sheds last march 10th. I havent had any pictures of him all year till Dec.11th when he showed up looking for food! PIGGY! I cant tell if he broke this side off or if he's shed it.... What do you guys think? His sheds from last year.
Awesome buck. Its kind of hard for me to tell (as I'm looking at it on my phone) but it looks to me like he shed his left side. Don't see any remnants of broken beam. But like I said I'm looking at it on my phone so tough to get a good look.
looks like he did shed that one side, good luck with finding them again this year. btw.. really cool how he knocked the one side off on the feeder.
Unless he got injured I'd guess that he broke it. I read an article about bucks shedding almost to the day every year. The bucks studied in the article weren't wild deer but it was interesting to read about how each buck shed his horns close to the same date year after year. Some bucks dropped early and some held onto them for awhile. I have found one bucks sheds over a 4 year period and they're always around feb 15 to 22th. I'm not saying it couldn't have shed an antler in Dec but I am curious to see if you find the side he's holding some time around march 10th. Keep us posted!
