I've ended up with a couple more places this year to shed hunt. Not sure what I'll find there. They are both good places to hunt just not sure of the bedding areas on the one yet. Just acquired them both this fall.

Good point! I do have one strong advantage here though. Every spring my boss and I go on a turkey hunt on a 30,000 acre ranch in Nebraska. Shed city.
Dbl lung checking in from WI. Have a few areas to walk with my dog Leo. I will be a in a couple different states. Really looking forward to the exercise and watching the dog do his thing. Most of the bucks in my area are still holding on.
I plan on doing a lot more shed hunting this year. I have 2 trips planned to shed hunt in Iowa. I found 7 last year so hopefully I can spot quite a few more this year.
I'm going to try and hit a spot close to home before snow hits again where I was getting some pics of shed bucks. if we get dumped on it will delay things until it melts.
way too much for me too. I can't convince the wife to move. when spring comes and the snow finally melts it sure makes you appreciate dry ground and no boots.

Funny thing Garet, I've tried this in the past with a few different versions. I've watched the deer pull the cage clear over from being hung up in them. I've only ever had one antler fall off in the trap. Just my experience. I believe it is all about timing on how well they work also.
My first attempt I used "t" posts and barbed wire with no luck. The one I've had the best luck with is the cage part of a transport tank that I cut in half. I then strung wire across the top of that in a tic-tac-toe board type of pattern. That way the deer have to weave their head down in to get to the food. When they pull back is when they have should come off. I have found one several feet from that. So they must have been hung up in it when the antler came free it jumped off.
