Ok guys I'm jumping into the wireless camera game. I'd like you all's opinion on wireless trailcams. If you have a certain brand tell me what you like/dislike about it. Right now I'm leaning towards the Bushnell Aggressor wireless but I am certainly open to suggestions. Blessings..........Pastorjim Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I've always wondered on these. Let's say you buy a plan that is 1500 pictures per month for $10. What's the charge when you get to 1501 pictures?
Depends on the carrier and what plan you choose. Spartan Gocams can connect with their Verizon cam for $5 per cam and then just uses data from your existing Verizon cell phone plan.
I put my cellular camera on an unlimited text plan for ten bucks per month. The reality is that the batteries would die long before I ran out of texts anyway. :D
Spartan GoCam has worked great for me. App works good, HD on request, And the customer service has been great too. I have bad service in my area so I have to use a booster antenna. I have seen some good stuff from the Snyper cell cams too. They are only $250.
Covert black ops. 2013 model I think. Works good but battery life on regular alkaline batteries is pretty bad.
Second vote for the Covert Black Ops. It will use your text plan not your data plan. The downside is batteries. It loves them if the signal is week. I have mine loaded with rechargeable AAs, then connected to a 12v battery which is connected to a solar panel. Been running strong now for six months.
Copperhead, where'd you get your solar set up? I really need to do this because the only places on the mountain that get any signal tend to be a long hike. I'm too lazy to go up there every few weeks to swap batteries.
I got the cable from Covert to connect the camera to a 12v external battery. You can get a 12v feeder batter and solar panel. You have to set switch on rechargeable batteries and have to use rechargeable AAs. Was trying to get the link but page won't come up on my phone. I also tried their solar panel and battery but squirrels chewed it up. It didn't last as long as the 12v setup. I also got a cheap battery box at Walmart to put battery in.
I have 3 bushnell wireless trophy cams. Where I had them they got 1 bar for service but all pics came through. They were just thumbnails, but you could tell the quality of the deer. I did the $10/mo plan so I got up to like 1500 pics. So I payed a total of $30/mo to run the three cameras. They run on AT&T, so for our new lease property we are not sure if they will work out there yet. I hope they do. It would be nice to have 24 hr scouting on a property 2 hours away. But thus far I have been pleased with the cameras.
Thanks for the response. Are you saying that the camera only sends thumbnails or did that have something to do with the signal? Blessings..........Pastorjim Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Here is the link to the cable: https://www.covertscoutingcameras.c...2014-2015-universal-auxiliaryconvertor-cable/
For the most reasonable priced option, 1500 pics for $10/ month, yes those would be thumbnails. So the pics are a little grainy on your phone but I am fine with that. The HD pics were priced individually. I forget the price but I want to say with was like $1.99 a pic for HD. That would make it a little pricey. I can tell the difference from a shooter and non shooter with the thumbnails. I can wait to see the HD pic until I pull the memory card.
I normally put these cams out in late June/early July. I change the batteries once before or during the hunting season and pull the cams down late december before it gets too cold. I don't have the cams by me, but I am pretty sure they take 8 AA batteries. The online account and app tell you were the battery life is on the camera.
It is pretty cool to be sitting in your tree stand and have a pic come through and the camera is 50-60 yards from you and the deer is coming your way. Then you put your phone down and hear the footsteps coming. That has happened to me numerous times. One I had a pic come through, it was a nice buck, so I rattled and another pic came through with him going in my direction. Unfortunately he didn't present me with a shot but I thought the situation was kinda cool.
That has to be the most expensive camera on the cell cam market to run month to month. Especially if a guy wants an hd pic.
Somebody buy one of those Snyper cell cams and let me know how it does. I put my battery eating cell camera up on hill. With regular rechargeable batteries in it. It's a 500'+ elevation gain from where I can park. If enough critters walk by I'm going to need to hike up there every two weeks. It's my new exercise program. :D Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
