I'm heading back out to Ohio Friday afternoon. Supposed to have some cooler temperatures, so I'm hoping the deer will be moving. I sure hope the Bucks haven't started to drop their antlers. There are 2 with my name on them. Hopefully I can connect.
Everyone of them that I have seen are still antlered. Its been hella warm the last few days deer have been moving at all kinds of weird hours, wife said there were 3 in the yard eating at 830-9 am this morning. I dont normally see them eating during the day until just before dark because of my dogs. I forgot to add that she shot her 1st deer last week, with a bow! great shot.
Well that's good to hear. My father is headed out to Ohio this morning to put out Corn and Apples. They have annihilated my corn, soy beans and turnip food plots, so I'm sure they are hungry. Congratulations to your wife. A very good shot too.
No Luck in Ohio this weekend. I had a 2.5 year old 8 point show up Sunday evening and a 3.5 year old 8 point show up last evening. We are headed back this weekend for the Muzzle Loader season. I'm hoping to get a Friday evening Bow Hunt in before the Saturday opener. I think one of my shooters already shed his antlers. I had a picture of a buck with 3" peticles showing. There is still 2 others, so I'm hoping they don't drop before this weekend is over. It's supposed to be a lot colder this weekend.
Wish me luck this Evening. I'm headed to Ohio this morning, so I have time to get a bow hunt in this afternoon. Muzzle Loader comes in tomorrow. I think my best chance may be tonight. Very cold weather and snow on the ground.
Well guys, this weekend did not produce a buck. I saw a lot of bucks that had already shed. All 3 mornings were 7 - 9 degrees. I feel like my chances to get a mature buck this year have passed me by. Still time to tag a doe.
The sun has set on the Illinois deer season. This is the best time of the year, though. (Besides November). Got my second coyote in two days. Also did some scouting today and I picked up the first drop of the year. Most bucks are still packing both sides. I saw 4 nice ones while walking around, and all still had both sides on.
I made my last trip of the season to Ohio this past weekend. After reviewing Trail Cam pics and not getting any more pics of bucks with horns, I decided to harvest a doe. Today is the last day of the contest. Congratulations to all of those who had opportunity to harvest deer this year and also to the Team as a whole.
Yes sir it's been a good year for me an I hope it continues. I had a blast with yall an getting to know yall Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Looks like Team 3 takes the 1st Place Honors this year. It appears that we finished 4th from Last. This was a strange year for the Rut. It came much later than normal and I believe the Super Moon kept the bucks on their feet at all times through the night that was much brighter than normal years. It's been a pleasure meeting all of you and you know, the fall season will be here before you know it. Best Regard, Scott
hey guys sorry I havent been on lately, working alot. It was awesome to participate in the contest with you guys. Now that I am settled in my house I hope to get a few food plots in and have a better season this year. All said we harvested 3 doe off of my 6.5 acres and there are over 20 that I see all the time.So not even a dent in the population.
Glad to here that you are all settled in at your new house now. It's time to go chasing Gobblers now. Glad you still have plenty of does.
