My season starts Nov 8th... We are in a rifle zone.

I usually hunt my brothers 80 acres which is not the same property I bow hunt.

What sucks this year is that MN changed our regs so each person can only take 1 deer... If I tag out early I won't be rifle hunting.

Will be hunting the Wisconsin 9 day gun season (Nov 22-Nov 30) and muzzle loader season (Dec 1-10) if I haven't filled my gun tag. Also will be hunting Iowa 2nd gun season (Dec 13-21).

Checking in boys. I'll be hunting alongside my Dad on west central IL public land. Might be one of our last hunts together as he is just hit 72 yrs old. Hunting public land doesn't sound the greatest, but this property holds some decent bucks. Shotgun state, but we are packing Savage 220's shooting Federal 3" Trophy Copper slugs. Both are shooting 2" groups at 125 yds so were are pretty excited. We are allowed 2 bucks in this state so I will have to be patient during the bow season if I am to help us out.

Team #1 looks pretty good but I think we actually have a pretty solid team here as well.

You have to try the Remington Accu Tips in the Savage 220, trust me :)

Tom, we tried the Remingtons, Hornadays, Winchesters and Lightfields. Both of these guns shot the best with the 3" Federal Trophy Coppers. Actually, it was the previous model that the Trophy Coppers replaced....the Federal Barnes Tipped Expanders. Te Trophy Coppers shoot very close to the Barnes, but Federal discontinued them after Remington purchased Barnes (I think it was Remington).

I still have 5-6 boxes of the Accu-Tips for back-up, if needed. Those Hornady's were the worst grouping. Both guns had trouble grouping into a 6" pie plate at 50 yds! That is not good enough for me.

I have 2 busy weeks of work training coming up but would have no problem being captain. Let me know.

Got half an acre of winter rye planted yesterday. Should be dynamite for rifle season once the beans/corn has been harvested.

How did you and Pat get on the same team ? Will just have to shoot a big one in WI before we head to Iowa.
