I'm headed out to scout that area since it's the closest public land near me. Wanted to know if anyone has had success there? And, at over 3,000 acres, how often do you run into other hunters? I hear watershed property near Sussex is good too. Thoughts? This is my first year hunting public land and hunting in NJ. Thanks for your comments. I grew up in those woods...but it's all changed I suppose...I hunted beaver run and high point mountain...and if you can get into whittingham that's a great area...they have their annual 3D shoot coming up in august too...it's a great 3 day shoot...you can't shoot the whole thing in one day...good luck!
Thanks Bowhuntandlive! I'll check out Whittingham. Just got back and there were some promising signs of deer trails. Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
One thing I noticed... Lots of empty bottles of maple syrup. This almost suggest people are hunting with maple syrup. Or is this just coincidental? Sent from my HTC One_M8 using Tapatalk
Maple syrup is from a bear hunter....thats jersey for ya...just leave their sh!t and trash in the woods...that why I dont hunt there anymore
Maxpetro - Clinton... That WMA was on my list. I believe they have practice ranges there. It's an hour drive from me but may be worth the drive. Bowhuntandlive - Bear hunters... It was very disappointing to see. I picked up a lot of it. Where do you hunt? New York? Penn? CT? Sent from my Surface Pro 3 using Tapatalk
Yeah, the northern region office for the NJDEP of fish and wildlife has an archery, shotgun and rifle range. I have pheasant, deer, turkey and fox hunted there and it's great. I have seen many scrapes and large rubs as well as good bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
