I was out for the last 2.5 hrs of daylight yesterday. Saw 7 deer last half hour hunting the corner of a soybean field. 2 doe and a 6 pt walked out at 15 yards. 3 other doe and another 6 were at 50-60 yards. The 2 big guys I was after didn't show up like my camera sugggested they might. Mosquitos were bad walking in but up in the stand they were fine. Didn't turn the thermacell on but once the deer walked out in front of me and fed they showed up and ate me while I was forced to remain still lol.
I went out Friday evening and saw a doe and a fawn Last night 2 does 2 spikes all together the little guys were chasing the does around some
First sit last night and didn't see anything but geese and wood ducks. Sat again in the same stand this morning and saw a nice doe. Too early to shoot a doe yet. Going to try a new stand tonight if wind holds like it is supposed to.
Small basket 8 chasing a doe around a bean field last night. He then proceeded to trot after me while I was walking back to my truck.
Well I was gone for a week, got home Saturday and checked the chip, got the dreaded no image when I went to go view. Put a different chip in yesterday and checked it this morning. I got a picture of the little 6 pointer I have been seeing since summer kept scanning and 4 new bucks decided to show up all in 1 night it is just about time. 1 week till opening day.
In SE, it appears pre-rut has really picked up the last few days. Scrape lines have opened up pretty heavy in the last 4-5 days and bucks look to be cruising at night. The front moving through late yesterday had them fired up a little bit. Had a couple 2.5 yr olds and a big boy chasing does around the field. Not dogging them or anything, but they were out in shooting light so thats a step in the right direction. This week should be interesting with the weather patterns. Might be some good opportunity to catch one cruising in between rain storms.
Saw a shooter last night chopping stalks at about midnight. Neck looked pretty swollen and had his nose on the ground for the little bit I saw him in the headlights. I haven't hunted for a couple weeks but hopefully will be getting out a bunch in the next two weeks.
Ive saw a shooter this past weekend and the weekend before, this weekend he was feeding in winter wheat. Last weekend our #1 was on the move from bedding to I dont know where. Things are gettign exciting!
A few new bucks came through over the last week for me, they are really starting to move around. I will post up the pictures when I get home later today. This weekend I will be hunting in Camp Ripley, I know the hunting there is not as good as it used to be but its kind of a tradition to go with our group of friends and the hunt supports the military so I'm all for that. It should be fun, hopefully see a few deer, I saw a really nice buck last year when I hunted in there so we'll see how it goes.
